Forums - Sony Discussion - Dust 514 is awesome

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The combat is below average. The gun play is really stiff, making gun fights more tedious than fun. The maps are bland, lacking basic detail.

Never once did I think that Dust 514 was fun. After 20 minutes I stopped playing it and deleted the game off my hard drive. I can pass out some codes for those who want to play on the weekend if anyone's interested.

You are the one claiming you know a dev, which is entirely possible, CCP devs talk to players, yet don't know something that is extremely well known, at least to people who actually know CCP. Not saying you don't, I'm just saying it's highly implausible.

I'm not claiming I know a dev, I'm claiming I got a code from the dev on gaf. Don't understand what you're getting at? Feeling a bit jealous or what? I just said I got the beta from him on gaf. You're the one questionning if I got an all access beta. He even liked my Griffith avatar. Very sympathetic dude.

I am just calling into question your story. I myself have 2 codes, as well as a huge number of other EVE players, most of which won't even sue them. I think they are ebign traded away on reddit for free. That should also answer your "bit jealous" comment.

Yes, but your codes only last till tomorrow. Have fun.

You know, I actually didn't even know that I had keys until you brought it up and I checked the little sub-reddit. I hope it's good, but I hear mixed things about it. At least I know things will be smoothed out when they decide to port it to PC in a few years or so.

im glad it is, im keeping an eye out for this game.... but there is something i just dont understand, its an MMO right? and what kind of game matches or mission or gameplay happens? like i underdstand its connectivity to EVE online but what is the purpose of the game. could you explain that to me?

I'll try and explain my understanding of it, but perhaps Turkish will be able to give you a better reply:

It's not an MMO as such, it's a more standard match-by-match based shooter.  You'll play in the stardard modes with time/score limits for taking over certain territory.  Which is where the interesting part comes in: EVE.

The connectivity to EVE (which is the mmo) is that the battles taking place in Dust are on the planets in the EVE universe.  Players from EVE can hire Dust players as mercenaries to fight for control of the planets for them.  The players from EVE can also watch over the battles and send orbital bombardments to help out their team, among other things.

I'm sure someone might be able to explain it a bit better than me, but that's my understanding of it so far.

thanks... may i ask, for someone who usually plays online games but games that arent huge in scale, like i play uncharted, killzone, CoD (well used to play it) games like that. is this suitable for a gamer like me? also i wont be paying for anything in game (i would very much rather pay 60 bucks up front like any other game) would that affect me and the oppertuinities i have in the game or is that not clear yet with you?

lol at arguing if turkish got a key from a dev at gaf.....like it's unbelievable or something. I have no reason to doubt it or even ask him such a Q. it happens all the time. I mean for example cl0ckwork is interacting with users and hooking them up with some PS All star beta codes as well.

Anywho on topic. I will be getting on the beta on sunday night..or worst case scenario on monday.

Btw Turkish, what's your psn?

Yep you got that right, I barely scratched the surface of EVE's universe, but it all feels very big. You open the galactic map and you see all the star systems and individual planets, wondering there are fights going in the EVE game. :P

So it's out and in beta ? I'll give it a try, if I manage to get a key somewhere.
