Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you always choose the same type of Pokemon to start with?

Myself, ive never started with water. Something about leech seeds and fire that is so much more fun than Hydro pump.

What about you guys?

I have always started with fire types. I know, I'm so mainstream.

I start out with whichever Pokemon looks the coolest!

What's a fire type?

I've always started with water on my first playthrough - I really wanted to choose Snivy in pokemon black, but I couldn't bring myself to do it :(

No. I think it's because of cuteness, but I don't repeat the choices in remakes

Let's see.

Blue - I picked Bulbasaur
Yellow - Pikachu (yeah, controversial choice, I know)
Gold/Silver - Never played
Saphire - Mudkip
Leaf Green - Squirtle
Emerald - Torchic
Pearl - Turtwig
Platinum - Chimchar
Soul Silver - Cyndaquill
Black - Snivy - It was the first time my starter wasn't my main pokemon - I really struggled to make him usefull

White 2 is probably going to be Oshawott

for me it is Fire or Water always.

I used to pick grass in red because it would make the first two gyms easy, and I was young and bad at the game. When I restarted, I picked Charmander though because he seemed cooler than bulbasaur who was a bit ugly.

Gen 2 I continued to pick fire as Cyndaquil was awesome. And that was the last generation of Pokemon I played!

From the main games I went Water>Fire>Water>Grass>Water. G/S water dude was lame, and Turtig was the shit! Other than that, water it is for me.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I normally pick fire as they tend to be my favorites out of the starters, but I also rarely choose water or grass. I just feel like grass is such a worthless pokemon type to use when you rely so much on "Surf."

Because you have to have a water pokemon, the only good thing grass does is kill water pokemon. That really doesn't make it worth a precious slot on my team. =

Bulbasaur is my favorite pokemon of all time, however.
