Well, that's what I thought. But it's all in the linked articles...

Expect everyone in the UK to watch it, most in Europe and America, a lot in China and Japan, some in India and Australia, and a few in the rest of the countries. So just over half of the world's population doesn't sound too farfetched...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

As I get to work from home three out of five days a week to avoid travelling to London I am very pleased.

I look forward to track and field, cycling, swimming etc, and the F1 Grand Prix....

Ah yes, how could I forget about the F1? Should be a great weekend of sports!

4 billion what,tv viewers, the olympics is good fun but it does like to blow its own trumpet,i like athleics but lets not kid ourselves that everyone has to be glued to the tv to watch every sport going, the fact that the BBC has the coverage of everything tells you something

edit i'd be surprised if anything from the olympics appears in the most watched for the year, maybe the ceremony, infact i'd be interested to know what the past figures are or if any event has made it,i've never seen an olympic event make it big in viewing figures, england footy always and wimbledon this year, the rugby world cup final was 8m,i'll have a check, not sure how you can claim everyone in england will be watching if nothing has ever made it in the most viewed list but i'll check

Anyone in the South East of England planning on going to see the free events, like road cycling and road races?

I plan to see the road cycling race on Sat or Monday? (I think it is on Saturday and Monday, need to check)

they said they expect a million people lining the streets for the road race for cavendish and stuff, especially after wiggins win in the tour de france, that i can believe,if i still lived in london i'd defo go out and see that sort of stuff

Today I wish I was British.

24 HD Olympic channels. I think I am going to have to illegally stream.

NBC in the US has every thing delayed which is annoying as the internet will tell us the winners long before legal broadcasting is available here.

to pirating!

1m people is a lot if the forecast turn out to be true. Just found out one of my friend's flat overlook part of the road race course (or so he says), so a few of us friends are currently negotiating terms (probably depends on his wife saying it's OK for us to turn up, though he makes out it's his call) to spend some time there to see the race.

Actually just found out it's on so happy days.

that sounds good,i expect alot of people will be doing this kind of thing having a few drinks, something to eat etc,the olympics is a festival of sport after all and if its rolling past your flat all the better, the brits do like sport after all and i think thats what will be great about it,peopel will go and watch the events live,

yeah 1million,lol the media do liek to exaggerate things but cycling is pretty fashionable at the mo and those brit riders are pretty good,it won't be far off
