Forums - Sony Discussion - Question for any Twisted Metal (2012) players

Tagged games:

Not really sure if this is the right place to ask this kind of question but I figured I'd get a better response than other forums, so I thought I'd try here first.

I owned Twisted Metal at launch (EU) and absolutely adored it, however, the online multiplayer was just a nightmare to connect to.  I would try every match available to me, but it would just say something like "failed to connect" and take me back to the lobby.

It wasn't completely broken, because I did play a number of online matches, but it would take about half an hour of effort to do so.  In the end I traded the game in for CEX credit because the value was still high and I only made a minor loss.

So my question (sorry for the life story back there) is simple: Have they fixed the online connection issues?  I'd really like to get back into the game again, it's got that old school fun factor feel that I miss from a lot of modern games.

Thanks in advance.

Not a soul is playing TM at the moment? Bleh. Bodes well for the online community of the game! Still think I'll take a gamble on it though, want something to scratch my car combat itch :)

One of the users in the Vita forum had the game on his/her games currently playing list.  You could ask them if they want to play.
I don't own the game myself so I'm not much help.

Are you talking to me? I haven't played it for a couple months, but yes it is very much fixed now. They put out a ton of patches for it at least here in the US. I have two friends that bought it with me but they are busy with post grad work so and I have a giant backlog of games and PS plus amid needing to get a career job, learn wordpress/XHTML/C# & C++.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I played it three days ago without problems. A fun game to play every once in a while, especially well with friends. The 2 player split screen online flows really well also :).

Thank you very much for the reply, I was literally just about to message you.  TBH, that was kind of what I was worried about - that they'd fixed it, but only in the USA.  Back when I traded the game in, the online servers were down for the whole weekend and you couldn't play the single player without disconnecting from PSN (this was in EU).  It had just been one issue after another.

I'm glad to hear it's fixed now, though, I assume it's going to be the same in EU (if they made the patches, why wouldn't they bring them over).  Aldro's profile tells me he's from Sweden as well, so if he's not having any problems then it should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply.  Just to check - you played it in EU without any issues 3 days ago?  If that's the case, then I'll be going out to buy this back on Monday :)

Not sure if it matters :o but I pre-orderd from a shop in canada. Playing in Sweden though. But yeah no problems :>

EDIT: I too had the fail to connect, but its gone now. I doubt its only for one region ;)

Thank you, that is EXACTLY what I was looking for.  You're right about the regions too, I did see servers from the US back when I was trying to connect, don't know why that didn't occur to me :l

Thanks a lot for the information :)

I'd LOVE to buy and get into Twisted Metal, the beta was really fun (And my first experience with a Twisted Metal game), but I'm not supporting the devs for one simple reason: They censored the EU version... I will NEVER support censorship, especially in videogames.

Coincidentally, this Twisted Metal is one of the least censored I've seen from the series.  I don't know if you played Black, but they literally removed the story mode from it.  No story at all, you're just thrown into the battles with no motive or idea what you're doing.

Twisted Metal 2012 is censored, sure, but it's not terrible.  They just cut away from a couple of the more graphic scenes early, such as Sweet Tooth getting his eye impailed by scissors.  I completely understand your morals and salute you for it, but the censoring isn't half as bad as it used to be!
