Contenders

3DS

-Currently at 4.92m YTD.

-2D Mario and XL coming soon.

-DS brand historically performs well on holidays.

PS3

-Currently at 4.66m YTD.

-Remodel and price cut probably coming soon. Entry model at $179.

-Not as much of a holiday-friendly console, but it may gain a previously untapped market with casual friendly games, cut and remodel.

X360

-Currently at 3.48m YTD.

-Halo 4, bundles and $99 Xbox deals. No price cuts rumoured so far.

-Performs extremely well on holidays as of late.

I give the other consoles 0% chances, but I'll include them in the poll regardless.

My opinion: Before the PS3 remodel rumours 3DS would've been a given, but now PS3 has more of a chance. I'll still go with 3DS though. Unless there is an Xbox 360 cut I don't see it outselling PS3 for the year this time, though it may outsell it for the holiday season.

You said console, so I'd say PS3 by a small margin

The 3DS, of course. The holiday potential for a Nintendo device is huge.

But on the console front, I think it's fair to expect the PS3 to sell the most considering the much rumored remodel and price cut. It doesn't have any huge system sellers this holiday but I think there's enough alluring catalog titles to sell a considerable amount of consoles.

Handheld console/home console.

It was me.

Sony said they were hoping to sell 10million Vitas this financial year.

But they lied.

The new "PS3" remodel is actually an extremely large PSVITA thats what the slider is for, it opens to show a 10inch OLED screen. Whats better than having a console experience in your hands? A console in your hands. All the people buying the newer "PS3's" are actually buying Vitas so 10million plus 4million for holiday sales of the "PSVXXXL" it will outsell the PS3 and the 3DS.

Im joking of course i'll go for PS3, price cut and Uncharted/GT5/God of war/LBPK/PASBR bundles and new slim PS3 will help it overhaul the 3DS which won't perform as well in the west as Nintendo will have hoped.  

3ds is the obvious choice but of the home consoles...ps3 maybe by a little?
