Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales! Week 28-July 09- July 15: Famitsu

Its like a bit of good news and a bit of bad news for the Vita with TT outselling the 3DS version (even though this can be questionable and due to less must-have games beeing released for the Vita) and the PSP outselling the Vita again.

Actually, level 5's latest games have been flops... wich is worrying.

I hope Vita stays at around 13k until Hatsune Miku comes. At least it had a couple of small games release this week, and four games charted.

PS3 has dropped really quickly there, I remember it doing 25k per week not so long ago.

3DS dropping before XL week, let's see how low it goes, and what the XL does for it.

PSP going strong.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Time Travelers... Bomb of the year! Level 5 is to blame... a whole QTE big budget game... GENIUS!

Inazuma Eleven has yet another mess to clean up.

I guess there is no chance in hell now that Time Travelers will come to the west....

Oh well, one hit less on my wallet. Poor thing already takes a beating from steam.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

But, lol, media create guys decided to wake up early after famitsu numbers became available! Good! Now include the sales of the top 30 (even better, your whole top 50) and it'll be perfect!

- Taiko did pretty much as expected. Now let's see its legs - ironic, since he does not have any.
- I expected a little more from Calciobit, 45k to be precise - but outselling Time Travelers x2 is always a good lesson for everyone!
- Resistance bombed, but eh, who expected something differently?
- The Trinity took a hit, but still strong. MH is shining as ever! Definitely 2 million (or more) when 4 arrives.
- Mario Tennis - sharapova legs!
- Persona didn't had a good second week, but it's behaving as I predicted: the must have game for Vita - hence it's legs.

TROLOLOLOL!

126 units sounds like a big fat slice of testicular pie...

From neogaf, amazing numbers... look how similar the second week total is for those games. Hardcore fanbase. I'm almost convinced to try this one.

[3DS] Etrian Odyssey IV: Denshou no Kyojin (Atlus) {2012.07.05} (¥6.279) - 14.221 / 111.363 (-85%)
[NDS] Etrian Odyssey III: The Downed City (Atlus Co.) - 17.601 / 112.063 01/04/10
[NDS] Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard (Atlus Co.) - 22.636 / 108.191 21/02/08

And:

[3DS] Little Battlers eXperience: Explosive Boost (Level 5) {2012.07.05} (¥4.400) - 19.468 / 75.082 (-65%)
[PSP] Little Battler Xperience: Boost (Level 5) - 15.477 / 74.925 23/11/11

Nice numbers for LBX EB. 3DS will get W (maybe even an explosive boost version like the first) for sure

just got a heads-up from gaf that SM3DLand has surpassed SM64 and has become Japan's best selling 3d Mario. Well done I say!

3DS owners had to choose between Time Travelers and the other two new releases: Taiko Drum Master and Pocket Soccer League (in addition to older titles at the top of the charts like Pokemon and Dragon Quest Monsters)

PSV owners had to choose between Time Travelers and....

I think the PSV version outselling the 3DS version 1st week isn't too surprising given the context. The latter will probably end up having the higher LTD.

But what a bomba anyways...

Yeah, Time Travelers was expected. Those two Vita games helped stabilzed it, the next game coming out is Powerful Pro Baseball 2012 (PS3/Vita/PSP). I wonder how each version will do.

Rune Factory 4 is releasing next week, tomorrow to be more precise, I hope that does well. Rayman Origins 3DS and Dorakazu 3DS also come out tomorrow.

Here's some news on the Vita's sales so far

Less than 800,000 PlayStation Vita units have been sold across Japan in the past six months, new data suggests.

A new look at sales of Sony's latest handheld - provided by Japanese magazine Famitsu - suggests that the system has sold about 790,000 units.
Sony Japan appears to have told Famitsu that the sales data is in line with internal projections, according to a translation of the quote by local media.

In March, Sony revealed it had sold about two million PS Vita units worldwide. Nintendo's 3DS handheld had shifted about 17 million units by the same period, though this rival system launched several months earlier.

The original PSP has sold more than 71 million units in its eight years on the market.

Meanwhile, hot release Persona 4 The Golden has managed to shift 189,000 units since its release on June 14th, quickly making it the best-selling PS Vita game in Japan for the year so far.

Top 10 selling games:

01: Persona 4 The Golden (188,782)

02: Hot Shots Golf 6 (118,985)

03: Uncharted Golden Abyss (89,390)

04: Gravity Daze/Rush (74,785)

05: Dynasty Warriors Next (74,718)

06: Tales of Innocence R (71,463)

07: Lord of Apocalypse (69,162)

08: Ragnarok Odyssey (65,318)

09: Gundam Seed Battle Destiny (55,527)

10: Disgaea 3 Return (54,902)
