Forums - Website Topics - Sony fanboyism among moderators is getting out of hand

For example, I responded in a Nintendo thread that Vita didn't have many games scheduled for this year; and I got banned for Sony bashing/trolling; no warning or anything. This post in particular (which was on page ~340 of a thread in the Nintendo forum) :

"Well, considering there's about 6 or 7 retail games scheduled for the rest of 2012 coming out for the Vita, it might be a long wait. Although, there might be officially nothing to wait for after next year."

It's not exactly like I am lying either -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games

This isn't bashing of Sony, it is a statement about the volume of titles which are being released for the Vita; it is a completely fair post. Somehow it got me banned because I was posting something negative about Sony and a Sony fanboy moderator happened to be skulking in the Nintendo forums where I posted it.

Now, if this was a very sensitive board, I would understand - but clearly this board is not. Obviously these much more negative TOPICS about Nintendo, being posted right in the Nintendo forum, are not considered Nintendo bashing/trolling:

Nintendo's Screwed http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=145235
Wii U CPU Weaker than Xbox 360 http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=145300
3DS doomed, and here's why http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=145290

In other words: if the above topics are alright, then my post is alright too; and if my post isn't alright, then these above topics are definitely not alright. Pick one, you can't have it both ways, otherwise you're being hypocritical.

I'm far from the only one who has been mindlessly banned for a negative statement against Sony. Moderators need to stop treating Sony platforms as being so much more sacred than others - in this case, Nintendo (I don't really follow Microsoft) - and actually be objective for a change. That is, don't ban users simply because you don't like what information or opinion they post.

In the interest of openness, here is the post for which he was actually banned: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4672073

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I think the fans of Sony have a real bad time right now (Vita a fatal flop, Sony in a catastrophical financial crisis and some analyst they that Sony will be history in near future) so they tend to overreact.

Thats a problem for Sony, not Sony fans. The only console which will have a landslide of games through 2014 is Sony. The Wii is done, the 360 will only have Halo and Gears. Sony is always the last to leave whether some hate them or not.

"Well, considering there's about 6 or 7 retail games" -  I see over 30 titles announced in your reference, not 6 or 7.
"there might be officially nothing to wait for after next year." - This is called pure trolling. Neither you or the source has the slightest facts

Banning is/was a hard measure but your post is completely immature, I'd have deleted it because it pure trolling without any facts.

Context is key. What you said isn't trolling on it's own (if it was, the amount of bans would increase dramatically) but it really depends on what you are responding to and what thread it is. Well, the last part is sorta trollish perhaps, after having re-read it...

Btw, threads about "unfair" bans rarely ends well.

at least you didn't post a animated dick.gif..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Guys the OP was responding to me after I said

"I have a 3DS and enjoy it. I'm waiting for the Vita to get a game i'd actually be interested in playing before I get one. I really didn't see that ad as attacking the 3DS though. All I got from it is "Hey, we are the only handheld to have two analog sticks", and I saw that as more of addressing that it is a different system than the psp."

I was talking about the Vita ad that was supposedly attacking the 3DS. I defended the ad, and then said i'm awaiting a game that makes me really want to buy a Vita before I get one (Because I'm really interested in the actual console, but besides Gravity Rush, not much has my interest). Then that's when he said

"Well, considering there's about 6 or 7 retail games scheduled for the rest of 2012 coming out for the Vita, it might be a long wait. Although, there might be officially nothing to wait for after next year."

I really don't see that as trolling at all. Even if what he said wasn't true about the number of games coming out (dunno if it is or isn't) it definitely wasn't aggressive towards Sony imo. Maybe moderation saw it differently though. Anyway, i've gotta go now, but yeah.

It is not a problem for Sony-Fans if the company they love could be bancrupt by 2014?

This words are real trolling, much more trolling than the words that the thread opener get banned for.

The gaming and film portion of Sony are the main ones bringing in profit right now. The Vita is the only issue. Secondly, Nintendo has had it worse in the gaming industry. Nintendo hasnt been number one since the early 90's, they played it smart with the casuals and became number one again. I think Sony will work on their issues next gen.

Sony is loosing money with PS3, like they do almost all time since its launch.

Sony has posted a massive net loss of $2.03 billion (£1.28 billion) during its third financial quarter, October to December.

The figure is based on its total revenue of $23.37 billion (£14.7 billion), which is down 17.4% on the same period last year. This leaves Sony facing its fourth consecutive year of making a loss. The figures are even more troublesome when you realise that they contain sales from the normally lucrative Christmas period.

Sony's Consumer Products and Services division, which houses all things PlayStation, fared little better, posting a loss of $1.09 billion (£ 688 million) for the quarter. This is despite actual sales of the PS3 being up year-on-year. 6.5 million consoles were sold between October and December, which is 200,000 more than in the same period a year ago.
