You (you and the others talking about who had online first) are all wrong!
On Atari 2600 you could have this cartridge which recieved Downloadable Content, yes DLC... more or less, something like it... by dialing up some phone line. This was the first digital distribution of games over a network. It was called GameLine, but the service didn't survive the videogame crash in '83.
Take that!
Atari had it all first: Online, wireless controllers, third party content, even motion controllers...
