Wrong again Sega Megadrive had Meganet before SNES lol

You (you and the others talking about who had online first) are all wrong!

On Atari 2600 you could have this cartridge which recieved Downloadable Content, yes DLC... more or less, something like it... by dialing up some phone line. This was the first digital distribution of games over a network. It was called GameLine, but the service didn't survive the videogame crash in '83.

Take that!

Atari had it all first: Online, wireless controllers, third party content, even motion controllers...

But Sega Meganet had online play first!!!

Meganet was a network service in Japan for use with the Sega Mega Drive. To use the network service, a Sega Mega Modem needed to be attached to the Mega Drive and a subscription fee of ¥800 per month for 6 months needed to be paid. It could then be used to go online to play games with modem support with other players in Japan. There was also a special cartridge, called Sega Game Toshokan, which allowed people who had the cartridge inserted to download and play a small variety of games that were never commercially released in Japan.

List of Retail Games With Online Play Support

Advanced Daisenryaku: Deutsch Dengeki Sakusen (1991)
Cyberball (1990)
Nikkan Sports Pro Yakyuu VAN (1991)
Shikinjoh (1991)
Tel Tel Mahjong (1990)
Tel Tel Stadium (1990)

The title has nothing to do with Nintendo copying Sony.
Nintendo online gaming has always been free, this makes no sense at all.

Wii's online is free but it's pretty terrible... just sayin'.

Nintendo should pay us for using Miiverse and online. Just to not copy Sony or MS.
Maybe helps getting a better reputation as well.

Sony online is no more free, normal PSN it's like XBLA Silver, useless, you go Plus to have something or you stay with nothing.

Apologies for putting a serious question into a joke thread, but.......what?

Lol. I hope you're kidding.

Why would he be kidding? If Nintendo copied Apple with their fail iPad, it will also copy the free online.

Oh my Fing DOG. Nintendo Coping Sony free online play....that is stupid.

All these "copy" debates are childish and proves a lot of gamers no nothing...like Jon Snow.

Nintendo gave the world everything.. Portable gaming, touch gamming and the motion revolution are 3 pretty big things.. analog is an other.. glasses free 3d.. most of the game genres (offcourse atari, namco, sega and others to.. but in this tread we are only looking at sony/ ms) and soon a screen controller (and 2-3 screen play)..

So when examble MS deside to make the x-box.. and better online.. Nintendo has every right to use that to.. But they are not :) nintendo did online gaming before ms and sony.. And offcourse the are gonna use it more now, when kids and people are on the internet.. and like competing that way..

Many companys look's at nintendo.. whats next... after all they had done "the next big thing" for more than 25 years..:)

Look at apple.. They copiede the touch mp3 player, and the small "fun" games.. and the app store, came after nintendo had sold small small games and app's (they just called them channels) and even the ipad "came" to jobs.. after he had seen nintendo's DSi XL.. (hey we can do a thing that's bigger than the pocket)
