Forums - General Discussion - I have issues with Jesus fanboys....

Only partly related, but...

Yesterday I saw a BBC documentary about Jesus that in the end suggests Jesus was actually something like a buddhist monk, that he was indeed crucified but did not actually die on the cross, and instead after getting better went to Afghanistan where he died around the age of 80.

It sounds weird at first, but in the end their story provides a rational explanation for certain things told in the bible and sounds quite plausible. Anyone seen it?

(The buddhist monk theory begins at about the middle of the video)

I haven't seen it, but there's a strange desire in humanity to retell the story of the cross, for xy reason. His resurrection is an integral part of his mission and proves the power of his redemption of mankind.

Some people want that to not exist, and there are reasons for that, though most of them are cop-outs. "Jesus cannot be God, he is only a man!" is the usual one.

Pretty much I have found that anyone that TELLS you how great a person they are is usually a con artists. Religious types, the more the talk, are usually the worst offenders - because they have the most to hide.

Red Flags are: "If I had ____ I would do this/give/loan it to you."

Plus, there is that whole section about the Bible not bragging/drawing attention to themselves.

A true Christian, meaning someone is selfless and loving, wouldn't need to tell you how great they are - they would show you.

Sorry, buddy, I hope you get your game(s) back.

Will see (what you said doesn't quite fit his situation).  It is a boardgame (well primarily cards), I play with other people.  Not having it means I am not able to.  It has an expansion for it also.  Plays real well, one of my favorites.  It is about as close as I can get to the computer game Civilization, as a cardgame, and be playable in under an hour.  Here is more info on the base game:

I recommend anyone who might be remotely interested, see if you can at least play it online at brettspielwelt.de.

I used to care, but now I really don't. Whatever makes you happy! Personally, I'm better without a god.

I don't debate people anymore about this.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

Ok I think the issue here is just the inherent rebelliousness of young adults. You can be a Christian, love Jesus, but still sin. Its a natural thing to sin, as long as you pray for forgiveness at your next mass.

Maybe you should vent frustrations at other religions where people actually kill others in their prophets name. Not gonna name the religion but I think you get my point that sinning Christians are the tip of the religious iceberg.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

^That's one of the big differences with my belief. I pray for forgiveness at home, at work, on the bus, etc. I don't feel there is a place that is holier than another. I only feel church is one place of learning and devotion. But you can do it anywhere you like.

I also feel we shouldn't be bashing any religion except the one that worships a space goddess. (Hint Tom Cruise)

I haven't been to church in forever, so thankfully I can ask for forgiveness wherever I am and God will hear me.

When did Scientology get a Space Goddess?  I thought it was supposed to be about Xenu and the electric boogaloo (well a Youtube video seemed to imply there is an electric boogaloo):

I am suspect of the ending though.

Not going to lie, that thread title made me lol so hard. Will go through the thread now :)
