Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony/Playstation Studios and Upcoming Exclusives

Tagged games:

I thought it would be cool to compile a list of all Sony's 1st and 2nd party studios and the games (or simply the number of games, if nothing else is known) each are making. Third party and other studios not directly affiliated with or owned by Sony will also be included if they're known to be making PS exclusives.

The point of this thread is to get an idea of just how many upcoming Playstation exclusives (mainly ps3/ps4) are currently in the works, and therefore how excited all Playstation fans can/should be. Please feel free to tell me about any mistakes or omissions. I'm sure there will be some, since a lot of this is coming from my my memory. I tried to organize things in as many different ways/lists as possible, so there will inevitably be some redundancy.

FIRST PARTY:

Naughty Dog

Team 1:  unknown, but probably Uncharted 4 -- ps4

Team 2: The Last of Us (early 2013)

Sony Santa Monica

GoW: A -- ps3 (March 2013)

unknown Stig Asmussen-directed title -- ps3 or 4

other? (weren't they rumored to be doing a shooter? Although maybe that's Stig's game...)

Media Molecule

Just recently rumored to be working on MULTIPLE new projects on different platforms (probably ps4 and psvita at this point?). According to MM, they're "Working on brand new IPs, even more ambitious than LittleBigPlanet was when it was conceived 6 years ago". I'd be lying if I said this quote didn't give me an erection make me excited.

(source:  http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/27/littlebigplanet-dev-building-ambitious-new-projects)

So that means at least two new upcoming games from them -- ps3 or 4 + vita?

Guerilla Games

Working on 3 different games, rumored to be:

1. New IP -- likely ps3 or 4

2. Killzone 4 -- could be ps3 or 4, since KZ3 came out Feb 2011

3. Killzone Vita

(source: http://www.thebitbag.com/2012/01/30/guerrilla-games-working-on-killzone-4-new-ip-and-killzone-ps-vita-rumored/)

Sucker Punch

Probably inFAMOUS 3? But maybe a new IP -- ps3 or 4

The first studio listed so far that's only working on one game, unless I missed news in the past stating otherwise

Polyphony Digital

GT6 -- ps3 or 4

GT vita (unannounced, but likely; plus, evidence found that hints at it --> http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/13/survey-hints-at-gran-turismo-vita-new-ps-plus-features)

Japan Studio/Team ICO

The Last Guardian -- ps3 or 4 (j/k)

other? (haven't heard anything, but I think they're a decent sized company; probably at least guaranteed Gravity Rush 2 for vita)

Sony Bend

Uncharted vita #2 (highly likely but unannounced)

Syphon Filter (looooong rumored; still crossing my fingers since SF 1 was one of the best games ever for its time)

San Diego Studio

MLB: The Show '13/'14/'15, etc. -- ps3/ps4/ps4, etc. + vita

Evolution Studios

Unknown, but as of early 2011, Project Gotham Racing lead, Ged Talbot, joined Evolution. This gives me hopes of a return to Motorstorm 1's quality, or even better. For someone who doesn't enjoy racing games, Motorstorm 1 was a blast.

(source: http://shogungamer.com/taxonomy/term/4727/all)

Studio Liverpool

probably the next Wipeout -- psn-ps3/ps4/vita?

SECOND PARTY:

Quantic Dream

Beyond: Two Souls -- ps3 (early 2013)

unknown new IP -- ps3 or ps4

Superbot Entertainment

PSAS: Battle Royale (awful name) -- ps3/vita (2012)

Sanzaru Games

Sly 4: Thieves in Time -- ps3/vita (2012)

Giant Sparrow

The Unfinished Swan -- psn-ps3 (2012)

2 more games, but will probably only release over the next 3-4 years -- psn-ps4?

Tarsier Studios

LBP vita (2012)

Insomniac

R&C: Full Frontal Assault -- psn-ps3 (2012)

other? (probably not)

Zindagi Games

Sports Champions -- ps3/Move

Ready At Dawn

assuming they'll make a vita title, another GoW?

David Jaffe

unknown; maybe nothing considering the Eat Sleep Play debacle and the fact that Twisted Metal bombed fairly bad

Lightbox Interactive

?? Probably won't stay 2nd party, I assume

THIRD PARTY:

United Front Games

LittleBigPlanet Karting -- ps3/vita (2012)

Rockstar Games

Agent (seems like this may end up multiplat) -- ps3

Ubisoft

AC III: L

Activision

BO: D

Irrational Games

Bioshock vita

Fun Bits

Escape Plan 2?

Q Games

another PixelJunk game?

Housemarque

next Super Stardust?

UNKNOWN:

ThatGameCompany

Hope Sony buys them now that the 3-game contract is up (though idk how Sony can afford a large purchase at this point). Wouldn't necessarily be a game-changer if TGC went multiplatform; but, they've certainly shown more and more potential with each new game, and have brought 2 truly one-of-a-kind, high quality games to the ps3 in Flower and Journey.

I was certain GG was working on 2 games not 3 :S

and expect more games from Sony Japan from now...

and I can't remember where I saw this...but I believe it's hinted that San Diego studio is also working on a new IP

Wow! That is really impressive. Very good reason to own a Sony console. Especially the PS3.

Actually, I would say it's a little weaker than in previous years. I feel that a lot of these unannounced titles/devs that are up in the air, are working on next gen games....

For 2012 and for strictly the ps3, yeah, I agree that it is weaker, and for the same reason you mentioned (ps4's imminent release); but, the main reason I made the thread was to look forward to all Playstation exclusive games (handhelds less so), ps3 OR ps4. As a true Playstation fan, an exclusive being on ps4 rather than ps3 won't matter, since they'll have the ps4 eventually anyways. Even for non-Playstation fans, this list may give them an idea of whether they may have interest in Sony's next-gen platform.

Sony's Japan Studio has two main teams one is Team ICO currently working on TLG and the other is Project Siren who just released Gravity Ruch.

I think Sony needs to expand Japan Studio and have more teams

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

1. I thought it was said for a while now that they were working on KZ4, a new console IP, and KZ vita? Although, maybe they're just collaborating for KZ vita, since Sony usually outsources for handheld versions of their IPs.

2. Why is this? Anything to do with Ueda being gone? so they won't move so slowly now? Lol

3. Wow, really? Idt I heard that. I think I saw they helped on ModNation Racers, so it shows they're not incapable of stepping outside baseball/sports games. Good news!

I'm really looking forward to figuring out what Sony has up their sleeves. It seems like they're planning a new arsenal of new IPs for next gen but it doesn't seem like they're ignoring their previous franchises either.

I really want to see what other games are coming out for the Vita though. I think it's yet to hit its stride but once it does, it will do great.

I'm with you man. Really can't wait. And I'm hoping someday Sony finds their "big gun" game that sells over 10 million (or just make sure a new GT releases every 3-4 years lol).

Wish I could get a Vita:/ I hope it really does start selling better (guess that's ironic considering I admitted I haven't bought one). It's honestly one of the sexiest devices I've ever seen, not to mention it's current and especially upcoming game line-up seems fantastic. It just needs at least one HUGE/system seller game for Japan and one or more for the U.S./Europe. And that/those system seller games, especially in the US/Europe, need to have a broad age group appeal, since the biggest target audience for handheld systems is the younger population. Hope Sony finally realizes that.

SCE Cambridge Studio is making KZ Vita, they're not in the OP for whatever reason.

These lists always strike me as stealth trolling, meant to inflate a consoles potential.

1. No specified year. With no set year, one is free to list games that arent being released for 1 to a few years.
2. No idea about quality. You can have 50 games coming out for the year....but for all we know, 35 might be sub 70 games on metacritic. And we know games lower then 70 arent worth bragging about on any list. Its another form of inflation.
3. No release dates. With the TBA and TBD games, one is free to speculate and inflate the list even more.

I personally go one year at a time, counting games confirmed for that year, and counting them only if they achieve a certain amount of quality.

I am tracking game releases of 360 and PS3 in 2012........you see reality compared to lists like this and youll be amazed.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Zindagi x1 (Sports Champions) as a medium game?

The first game is at 3.3 million. Sure the sequel may not reach that, but that's a bigger seller than a few games from developers on your 'big' list.

Not trying to be an ass, I enjoyed reading the list. This just stood out for me though.
