Forums - Politics Discussion - So, who here will avoid Oreos because of a rainbow one produced for ad campaign?

some live in the year 2012 and some still live in the year 1912 if it comes to some things.

€dit: woah i read those comments below the article, it is crazy what they start to talk about^^ like 80% of them crazy

"Right on, Lexington Lady. We, the anti-gay crowd, are tired of getting maligned out of nowhere. We get called names like backwards, bigots, etc… From special-interests political action groups or pandering politicians I understand, but from the makers of Oreo cookies? Really? Don’t you sell Oreo cookies for a living? Well, if they’re going to ridicule we, their customers, like this, I guess we’ll stop being their customers, duh. And that goes for government, too. Barack Hussein wants to raise tax revenues off of us and call us “bigots” and “backwards” at the same time? Lower your own tax revenues: shop less (you’ll pay less sales tax. Companies will pay less corporate income tax. You might even cause some people to get laid off, therefore…). Work less (you’ll pay less personal income taxes, you’ll pay less medicare and social security taxes). If you are a manager or owner, fire/layoff people (All companies should be able to easily get rid of 10% of their workforce and have the other 90% easily pick up the slack. They’ll start paying no income taxes and payroll taxes. And they will probably shop less, too, therefore paying less sales tax and causing less corporate income tax as well). Let’s show government, because it needs a lesson: we don’t need them. They need us, PUMA!"

and wtf?:

"Watch Oreo sales go down down down … What was it Mark Twain said, something to the effect … You keep shoving something down people’s throats long enough UNTIL it becomes the accepted norm… I can ONLY imagine what the media will be shoving down our throats NEXT … marriage to your dog, marriage to children, six or seven legit wives at the same time, perhaps. Sick."

That's the beauty of it. With all these social reactionaries boycotting everything, soon they'll be forced to accept the future if they want to watch a hollywood-produced movie or buy food products (aside from Chik Fil-A)

Don't forget In and Out Burger... who happens to make the best burgers in the country.  (Actually I believe it was ranked number 1 overall fast food.)

Don't know what it is, but Super Christian people make some BAD ASS fast food.  Maybe they use better ingriedients.

That said... it's not like liberals don't boycott the crap out of stuff too... I mean, you mentioned it yourself just not to long ago in regards to Glen Back.

As for the OP.  If they ACTUALLY made Rainbow Oreos i'd probably be actually more likely to buy some.  That sounds badass.

Then again looking at the graphic... prolly not... too much cream, i was thinkin it was gonna be like a rainbow swirl Oreo.

Still, no issues here.

Five Guys all the way. Or are we strictly comparing fast food (which Five Guys doesn't quite qualify for).

Five Guys counts as fast food.  Really, I'd say In-Out beats them hands down though.  Five Guys only saving grace is they have all that customization.

Have you eaten at an In-Out?  Thought it was a west coast only thing.

Well and wait time... In-Out Burgers are ridiculious in that there are ALWAYS 25 people infront of you seemingly no matter when you go.

Yeah, i have never heard of them, but even going 20 minutes west of here over the border into Ohio and you find a lot of suddenly-strange chains.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I like Oreos better back when they still had the 'dreaded' lard in them. But some people decided to push solid vegetable oils that where hydrogenated claiming it was 'healthier' (trans fats), but turns out that was a big mistake. So now they are differently processed vegetable oil.

I do still like them, just not as much. Guess I will have to buy some to make up for all the haters - doing my civic duty by eating cookies!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

To play the cynic card, the main reason whoever makes oreos did this is to increase sales of oreos. It's incredible viral marketing. The amount of people who said they would boycott oreos is minuscule, and of those people, maybe 10% will actually go ahead with the boycott. Of those who do, 90% will keep it up for less than a month.

If they boycott Oreos, then they have to boycott their iPhones, iPads, Androids and Xoom, as Apple & Google do the same as Oreo.

I normally don't buy Oreos, but now I'm going to have to buy a lot to make up for all the haters.

I was thinking the same thing. This is a civil rights issue.

I rarely buy them but will now if they release the Rainbow Oreo's in Australia.

Obesity is a big problem in the USA so more people avoiding Oreo cookies is actually a good thing. I haven't eaten a Oreo cookie or its generic counterpart in years. I just think that Oreo cookies are very overrated and if I want to eat something that is unhealthy their are many other choices that taste a lot better.

I doubt even the people saying they are going to boycott will actually boycott. Its too dumb of a reason for them to actually remember.

On the other hand, the rainbow oreo looks like it tastes better than regular, makes me want to buy oreos...
