Forums - Microsoft Discussion - The $99 Xbox 360 On Sale Now at Best Buy, GameStop

I know this is completely off topic, but I notice that a lot of the less income families like to buy big expensive electronics like HDTV's, PS3's, 360's, etc. I'm not sure why; maybe to try to hide the fact that they're poor? Just an observation I've made.

OT: Anyone that decides to get this deal, knows or will know exactly what they're getting into. Folks are not going to walk into Best Buy, buy an X360 at $99, and not knowingly be charged later on. Same way you walk into a cell phone store, and set up a plan.

because they spend most of the time at home because they have no money to go out. i wouldn't say they have more expensive electronics than people with better income but yeah, they often have big tv's and so on (but the less epensive models than people with more money). with the money they couldn't really do much outside, sure some k for electronics sounds a lot but what can you do with that in some years outside? (not to forget that without a big tv they would still buy a tv, just a smaller one). go few times in a restaurant, make a week holiday anywhere, go to the zoo  and drive around with your car some km and the money is spent and they have to sit the rest of the time at home without big tv and ps3 because with the same money they can buy that electronics stuff and use this 10 hours a day.

that's my theory why they buy those things. not great for their kids but yeah...

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then. And no, that doesn't mean you win/won the argument....it's a draw (which I'm sure must just chap your hide)

Feel free to get the "last word" in though, if it makes you feel any better.

Thanks. (Ahhhh, that's the stuff... definitely makes me feel better)

I do find it hilarious, by the way, that you guys all call me names, insist I'm an idiot, and assert that I'm in it to win it, rather than just debating the issue... and in the meantime, you all make as much effort as you can to "win" against me. I was happy to simply put forward my opinion, and move on, but everyone seems to insist on arguing against it. In all seriousness, if someone had simply said "I disagree", I'd have accepted that and moved on.

It doesn't say you can buy an Xbox for only $99.  It says for only $99 plus a subscription, you can jump into the Xbox experience.

"with"--as in "in addition to"

It only says that in the "fine print" part. The main part doesn't qualify it in such a manner. And the "with" modifier is a dangling modifier - is it modifying the "Xbox 360", or the "only $99"?

Flibbity Flabbity Floo!

I think this would be a good deal for a console that was new. But since the xbox 360 is 7 years old, I do not think it would be worth it.
