Forums - Sony Discussion - When will the Vita get THE game.

When will the playstation Vita get that one game. You all know what I am talking about. Zelda OoT or Mario Kart for the 3ds. Metal Gear solid 4 for the ps3. Halo 3 for the xbox 360. MHP3rd for the PSP. That one game that make the sales explode for the week and make even the doubters go buy the system. Since it is very unlikely that the Vita wont get that kind of game, when will it happen and what game will it be?

It already did, it's called Gravity Rush

It sucks for Sony to be so dependent on third party. They never know when they going to get a killer app for their system.

Was Ocarina of Time 3D really 'the' game for the 3DS?

In which case, surely FF X HD will be it.

If you consider Mario Kart / 3D Land to be 'the' game of the 3DS (I'd consider them both coming out at the same time to be what really rocketed sales), then I think some combination of LittleBigPlanet / Call of Duty / Assassin's Creed will be what causes it to take off, in Europe and possible America at least.

wut...?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Good question. The Vita has potential and there are some good games like Gravity Rush, Wipeout and Uncharted out already. I guess Golden Abyss doesn't count as "THE game" so I'll say it'll come whenever Sony puts some more first party games out. A true God of War game or even better a proper Gran Turismo on the go should suffice. Will we see a Monster Hunter-like phenomenon? Who knows!

As for first party games: I want Sony to announce stuff soon. Where's the next Patapon, God of War, Ratchet and Clank,...? The PSP had lots of actual "handheld" style games, crazy but neat stuff that really made it a cool handheld console. The Vita still needs those games and I hope Sony has a lot of games in development right now. In the future there'll also be a PS4 to support so now is the time to focus on Vita.

OoT is really just an honorable mention, nice legs and pretty much the only 3DS game for a long time. Mario Kart and 3D land is where the sales explosion was at. I wonder how well HD 10 will do on vita considering the PS3 version.

Well if Zelda Ocarina of Time is THE game for the 3DS, then I say the PS Vita already has that game, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. As for a big game that will boost sales and make the doubters go out and buy one, I would have said Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty, but they're just side stories to the main console games. The same applies to Final Fantasy X HD, it's going to be a huge HD remaster, but it has a PS3 version. A system seller must not have a console counterpart.

If that's true, then I feel sorry for Sony. After all, since launch in Japan in February, it has only sold about 75,000 copies, and launch sales in America and Europe are very similar to launch sales in Japan. If the game manages to make 500,000 by the end of the year, I'll be quite surprised.

Meanwhile, launch week in Europe and America have seen the PS Vita sales increase by only a small amount - 22% in Europe, 24% in America.

Note that I also wouldn't consider OoT to be "the" title for the 3DS. Mario Kart 7, maybe. Possibly even Super Mario 3D Land. But OoT 3D really doesn't sell the 3DS to most people.

Ohohohoho, why not pull the jokes now, eh?

I don't see THE game for the Vita in its current lineup, but we could well hear it at TGS/Vita Heaven, or, at least, I hope so...

COD/AC will not help Vita as much as people believe.
