According to a 56-page document that an anonymous uploader posted to scribd.com — and has since been removed at the request of law firm Covington & Burling — Microsoft is planning a $299 Xbox 720 with Kinect 2 for a holiday 2013 release. Microsoft supposedly drafted the outline, which contains a road map for the company’s Xbox division through 2015, in mid-2010. This document’s authenticity has not been verified, but Convington & Burling LLP is Microsoft’s legal counsel.

I suppose nobody would ever create a 56 page long fake document. Is it real?

The weird part to me is that it was taken down by Micrsoft's law firm. That is the most convincing piece of evidence. But even still, this sounds like a perfectly predictable path.

300?
not a chance

If it's real and is truly going to be $299, Microsoft will be taking some serious losses on the hardware.

In any case, it's interesting.

Turkish I have a new found respect for you with that avatar, just wanted to say.

But no I do not think the documents are real.

no clue but i really hope it will cost 100 more to get more power. if not we won't maybe see such improvements after some years we saw for ps3/360. yes i could say 500 more would be better then but i know it has to get a price some would buy it for and not too much away from mass market price for later price reductions.

Might be real, might not be, outdated anyway.

I think they wanted it removed to discard any impression people might get about their roadmap that might not be accurate anymore.

not really. it might not include a controller or hard drive. they will simply say " use your old ones plus u got kinect"

also sony and MS sold at a loss for years this gen.

I almost gave up on anime, untill I discovered all the goodness of the 80s and 90s anime. 14 year old protagonists are not appealing to me and everything has to be so kawai nowadays.

"The block diagram below shows a system with a 6-8 core x86 or ARM-based CPU, 4GBs of RAM, a separate ARM-based, dual core embedded CPU for low power media functionality, AND the original tri-core PowerPC CPU from the 360 for backwards compatibility. Despite all that they are targeting a system that will operate at 120 watts, a little more than half the power dissipated by the launch 360 and PS3. They are also targeting a $299 price point, including Kinect packed in with each console, and a launch in 2013."

And a blu-ray drive, all for $299 at launch? I hope it's not $299 with a 2 year contract.
