Marks said: The review system altogether is just flawed. It seems like for a hyped game, anything under a 9 gets called a flop. Should be more like: 10 - Absolute perfection, only maybe a game or two per generation hits this mark 9 - Amazing, should be played/bought by all 8 - Great game, and should be considered a success even for a highly hyped game 7 - Above average game, but a bit disappointing for a highly hyped game 6 - Average game, a disappointment for a sequel or hyped new IP 5- Mediocre, should be ignored except by hardcore fans of the series/genre...but a couple good patches might save it 3/4 - Really bad, borderline unplayable 1/2 - Horrid piece of shit, no amount of patches could save it 0 - Unplayable |
you do know that GamrReview actually has a scale almost identical to this, right?
10 - Masterpiece/perfection
9 - Outstanding, Exemplary
8 - Great, Fantastic
7 - Good, enjoyable
6 - Decent, playable
5 - Meh, tolerable
4 - Bleh, unenjoyable
3 - Bad, unworthy
2 - Horrible, Unpleasant
1 - Terrible, unplayable
0 - Atrocious, Irredeemable.
I've yet to come across any games in our database that don't conform to these guidelines. (aside from FFXIII, which got a 9...blech). People need to stop whining about game review when honestly, Game review is the only review gauge that I see actually being honest and fair to its medium.
