What is wrong with that quote? It couldn't be any truer. It is actually a compliment. Every business wants a large niche to itself and Nintendo got it in spades!

"Large Niche" is a contradiction in terms. The term "niche" has a meaning, and it's inconsistent with that use of the word "large".

I think he means a sub-market, one that's mutually exclusive to the HD twin market. But you make a valid point. Another case of terminological mishappening.

before sounding like a candle.

What does that even mean?! I googled it but nothing came up. Hahaha!

I'm trying to tone down on my cussing haha

I like your thoughts in therest of your post. I personally believe it will stand on its legs much better than the Wii, much more in line with the PS2.

Not only is it my prediction, but it's my hope. It always has been.

Damn! You think it will be on par with the PS2? That is very ambitious! But you know what? You just never know. If they play their cards right and get the confidence of both the casual and core player, they can eat the market up. It comes down to how they play their game, and how the market reacts to them. But that is the thing, the WiiU has the potential of failing quite miserably. Lots of people buy more than 1 console, but i THINK the majority own a single console. I have always been a single-console owner (with some PC action on the side), I love gaming, but I feel like my need is satisfied with 1 console and just can't devote more time to other consoles. Other gamers in my shoes due to time or money restraints or just plain fanboyism, might want to place their dollars on the PS4/720 just cause they know they are at least getting the latest tech just a short year after the WiiU. My worry is Nintendo will lose out on many of those people. The WiiU needs to give a reason for you to buy it NOW before the other 2 systems are launched. But by releasing 3rd party games that many of us have played yesterday, we would have no reason to buy it because we will be having many of those games on our current gen console until the PS4/720 come out.

Nintendo is actually in a very tough situation right now. It will be very interesting to watch the dynamics of the next generation unfold.

Yoshida and Iwata are probably the only people in the 3 companies that actually make sense when they talk, hell even miyamoto sounds like a PR bullshit person when he talked about Pikmin's online thing.
Reggie and Tretton are like drones, they defy logic.

It's not that the logic is wrong, it's that they are using the wrong words to describe what they mean, and it ends up becoming a form of trolling, putting Nintendo down.

Though they make sense, you are making the same mistake to blend their sound logic with the wrong wording they use, and that's a fundamental part of their argument, and of this thread.

Also, the wrong use of words in this case makes my hair raise, as a Nintendo fan.

How is that my understanding is flawed? , I am talking about the PR statements, and twists, like how for example reggie saying "Wii is the definitive console for family with breakthrough innovation and waggling blah blah blah" or tretton saying "the most poweful console POWERED by the amazzzzinnggg power of the vluray and cell blah blah blah"

and most recently miyamoto making obvious excuses of why Pikmin doesn't support online "because you can't process too many things at the same time while being online" compeletly ignoring MMOs and other Online games like StarCraft, he couldn't say "because it was at first a Wii game but we just ported it over and didn't make an effort on the online part" , of course he couldn't say that, because he works at nintendo, thats what "PR Bullshit" means, Yoshida doesn't do this, and Iwata too, its just the damn Marketing guys (its their job after all) ALA Dom , Tretton and Reggie.

I don't know why you guys are getting offended over this? We all know the Wii thrived largely by targeting a different market to the HD twins, it was a very different machine to them and had its own specialized market along with the smaller core contingent of Nintendo fans. The guy is just saying it like it is.

Amen brother, I agree with every letter.

Interesting poll results, almost 1 in 2 people think WiiU shouldve released in 2006. I myself voted to see the results since I dont care about WiiU, this is also the first time I included this option in my polls.

interesting in what? first you would have to count the fanboys of the 3 majors and even then your poll is not even by a bit representative...

especially regarding the fact that the wii-u would most probably not have been possible in 2006...

Actually, you are entirely wrong. A niche does not mean "of small proportion" to become an oxymoron with the word large. You can have a HUUUUGE niche if you want. You can have a niche that even reaches mass market potential. Enlightened? Now go use your new found definition to the word and find your niche in this world!

You're welcome.

Only a little comment, PS3 would be now in a really different situation if Wii didn't have Monster Hunter 3 and the upcoming Dragon Quest X... And they say Wii has been on its own generation....

lol let the Sony PR statements roll....just like 2006 again :P
