I'm kind of torn here. AC isn't really that bad for minors since there really isn't any sex or drugs, and the violence is kind of low. But if it was someone buying a game like GTA for someone who is lets say 13 and under then i would agree with best buy. I'm 23, and if my sister wanted me to buy her a game like RE:UC then i wouldn't mind (she actually loved RE4 on the GCN). But if she wanted me to buy her GTA then i would say no. BTW, my sister is 14.

Why did he stay and argue for three hours? He could've just come back alone later after they've forgotten him or something.

Maybe he thought his rights were in violation or something.

But of course...a store can deny a sale to anybody they want...

The brother was not a guardian, he's not allowed to buy a game for his little brother, that's store policy pretty much everywhere.  He should have said it's his money and he's allowed by normal rules to buy the game...the manager would have to agree.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I'm about to go to Gamestop . I'm getting 2 M games. I'm not old enough for them , but my mom is paying for them so do you think they will allow me?

PSN NAME : CommonCriminal

Now Playing : The Orange Box , Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare

"I, Badonkadonkhr, risk 1 week ban by claiming KH3 will be Sony exclusive, if I am found wrong, I will also start a thread praising those who were right"

They will Badonk.

I'm ashamed at the kid for being such an idiot. Ever since I've been into gaming and I've got either my one of my parents or brother to buy me a game I haven't been so blatently obvious that it's for me. However my mum is usually very blatent that it's for me, but no one usually cares. Alas, now I'm old enough anyway, so, yea.

Parents are different. A parent can buy any game with children, just as a parent can take his 10 year old son into a wine store and buy a bottle of Jack. He/she can even hand the kid the bottle on the way out. (The kid cannot DRINK it in public, of course). But, yeah, brothers/sisters/uncles/etc. are routinely denied products if they are with an underage child.

@Ben
Well, not exactly. In certain circumstances, they can refuse a customer. However, they have to tread a very fine line. For example, if a minority is refused service at a store the employee better have a mighty good reason why he or she was refused. One such case is where the employee suspects that an age restricted item is intended for an underage minor. Simply saying we do not have to serve anyone is not, strictly speaking, legal.

ahhh i Miss the good old days when Nobody gave a shit...

The last time i brought a game from a store was a long time ago

STEAM FTW!!!

Screw that.  I would have "left" with my little brother.  Stuck him in the car, went back into Best Buy alone and bought the game.   If they refused, I would have told them that he "drove separate" or something, I was alone & of age, and was going to buy the game.  Then I would have raised Hell on earth if they tried to refuse because I was OFFICIALLY alone.  If they still denied...I guess I'd have to start screaming about discrimination/lawsuits, etc.  How could they refuse to sell to me if I was alone and of age?

Well, I now only have access to a PS3 & 360...Plan on buying a wii soon (lol, if I can ever find one available!) but will probably wait until some of the major RPG's come out like Dragon Quest & Tales, etc.

Anyhow, I'm so far behind in games to play that I'm not in a huge hurry (lol, haven't even gotten a chance to finish God of War II yet!)

I haven't seen this directly happen but at the Babbage's in the local mall I saw an adult buying some mature rated video game and he had his son with him who looked to be about 12 or 13 and I overheard the cashier making a big deal about it and he was telling the dad that he had to take the cash from him and had to give the bag to him and the kid couldn't touch it until after they had left the store.

Babbage's?  Where do you live?  I thought Babbage's were only in the New Orleans area (and were then laterbought out by GameStop), or do you live in this area?

As for the topic at hand, i can't believe BB would pull something like that. First off, it's far from illegal, and secondly, it doesn't go against company policy for an adult (technically a legal guardian) who is of age to purchase an R-rated film or an M rated game for a minor.

Not to mention, an M rated game shouldn't be an issue for a minor at all, so long as the child has decent parents. I bought the original Turok in 3rd grade, and GTAIII when I was in 8th, and I turned out just fine. I'm probably one of the least violent people I know.
