Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U continues to use Friend Codes

I think that each account is associated with a friend code but you will appear as an actual name when playing online.

Just gives us what's on the 3DS and we'll be happy.

I don't want to listen to people talk about my mum's sex life (Xbox live), and I don't want game specific friend codes (Wii)

3DS has it perfect, can play with randoms, but you only listen to those you added. Adding people is exactly the same as on xbl

There is so much wrong with this post.

Go on...

I think it has to do with the bolded since that would become an instant issue for competitive group oriented gameplay such as Call of Duty. If you are playing a match with a group of total strangers would they all be silenced?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

It's mostly out of ignorance of the difference between Friend Codes on Wii and Friend Codes on 3DS. In the unlikely case of going back to the Wii style, there will be issues; but not if implemented like on the 3DS.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

This is a horrible thread Mav. It's too soon to say what these codes will be. They could be strings of numbers like the Wii-3DS, or they could be letters and numbers up to the player's discretion, we just don't know.

Can you stop being so anti-Nintendo and think a little please?

It'll be like the 3DS version, but easier. You can play with anyone and add anyone as a friend in specific games, but you can only talk to and message people you've added a code with.

I imagine this will be the same, but easier. Where's the problem?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Hopefully, yes.

Are you one of those people who believes people listen to you when you call out tactics?

@Cone. I can see that much!
