Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo is d0med, cutting employee bonuses by 20%

it seems that this year's E3 was pretty lackluster in general. I feel that Nintendo should have dropped some sort of Megaton announcement this year. I almost wish they had saved all their Wii U stuff from last year and disclosed everything now instead. Instead it 1) spread out the media buzz over a year and 2) gave MS and sony a year to copy whatever Nintendo was up do.

So instead of a super awesome E3 2012, Nintendo went for the Meh 2011 and a Meh 2012....

Weak demand for 3DS?? so selling more than the original DS in its first year and topping worldwide sales in 2012 is weak demand. Next they will be saying the Vita is a resounding success.

It`s too bad Nintendo is cutting on bonuses. I think this won`t happen again soon as Nintendo seems to have learnt that it`s games that sell the hardware.
3DS has been getting good games and if Nintendo can replicate in Europe and USA the success it has now in Japan, it can do very well finanly well this fiscal year. Not to forget that Nintendo expects to start making a profit on 3DS this September.
On Wii U, i know E3 wasn`t what people expected but once the dust settles people will begin to see that it`s launch line-up is great actually, even if has ports. Of course, there`s still a few games i believe will be revealed soon either for launch or for launch window.
And seeing as Nintendo doesn`t want to take a loss they will probably brake even on every system sold or make a little profit.

Ninendo is doomed? no it's because of cuttings like that, that Nintendo is not doomed

sony did the same

Pikmin3, ZombieU, NSMBU, AC3, Batman, Aliens, FIFA, CoD, Lego City, Tekken, Darksiders2...the BEST without a doubt.

A few of those games are already out on systems only marginally less capable than the Wii U, a lot are coming to other consoles as well, gotta source for COD? Never heard about that one. ZombiU may go multiplatform, I'll give you NSMBU and Pikmin 3 though, the latter looks awesome.

Definitely not the best launch lineup imo.

This should be a troubling news story then xD

I'm sure this is a great way to maintain/boost morale. Cut bonuses during the time most people go on vacation. I'm sure the employees who have some sort of stock based compensation are happy also. Its odd since the company has no debt, why the capital preservation (even if its only for the summer)?

Nikkei is still citing weak demand (probably in the West), the 3DS and its price cut push any future demand the system had back to last year, come august the comps are going to be tough, even with a NSMB.

"profitable by august" ~nintendo.

makes sense now.

the 3ds has basically sold more than any other system in its first year
