People here only think about the advantages of Blu-ray. Of course PS3 is a better console with blu-ray. However, blu-ray helped Ps3 sales? I know that BD was a reason for many sales of the console, but I am certain that would be better if PS3 launched for $100-$200 less without Blu-ray. Actually, the game world would be a lot different than now. PS3 could even win console wars.

Blu-ray on PS3 was the strategy to make it stronger, bringing down the HD-DVD, in my opinion it was a good choice.

Blu Ray would of won the format war either way. All including it in the ps3 was make them loose the console war. I dont think it was worth it as although they won the format war, digital is already taking over so they wont get the benefit of a lot of royalties. How much has bluray made them per year since release?
