Forums - Gaming Discussion - MS will have even less exclusives next gen

You are arguing from MS's standpoint. I am arguing from the gamer's standpoint. You are saying it doesn't make sense for MS to release smaller IP's than Halo because it won't sell consoles. Do you want console sales or do you want something like, say, Age of Empires IV on 360 which will probably sell 500k copies but would probably be a very good game?

Not all games that sell less are bad. Demon's Souls is perfect example and that game actually didn't sell bad.

I don't understand why more people don't get this.

From a console vs. console epeen point of view, exclusives don't matter if they don't sell well because, it wasn't worth the development money, therefore console X is better because they only have big exclusives.

But we're gamers, not company executives.  Being given the choice to be able to play more, different types of games is more beneficial to us than having a small number of games but "LOOK HOW HIGH THE SALES ARE!!"

Sure, you might not like every exclusive game that's out there, but the more choice there are - the more chance of there being something that you'd like.

Oh and also, Age of Empires IV, omg :(

mc will have 2 times more exclusive games then sony
the bad part is that most of them will be horrible kinect games
mc doest really care about their hardcore fans
now they focuse 90% on casual kinect games for little kids
thats why next xbox console will FAIL
vita failed because players remembered the lack of games on psp
xbox 720 will fail too

Hai there Mr 1 post, I just bolded the two sentences that just made me laugh my ass off, bye now.

Yeah because Microsoft is totally supporting Windows Phone 7 and PC with their first party studios... NOT. 1 studio for mobile games and 1 for Flight Simulator. That's it. And even the mobile gaming studio made an XBLA game. Nintendo really has to support the 3DS with more than just one team. Sony has the PS Vita and the PS4 next gen.

I said MS owns more studios and it is correct. 2nd party is not owned my friend so it is ignored.

@ First - ok, if we are to nitpick, 1 for W7P, 1 for flight simulator, and 1 which has never made a game, and will never make a game.

@ Second - you're right, for the purposes of 'MS will have less exclusives next gen', it is silly to consider studios such as Gamefreak to be owned by Nintendo. It is possible that they could decide to stop making pokemon games for Nintendo, and could make an FPS for MS next gen. It is completely reasonable to treat pokemon as a 3rd party franchise.

as if they wouldn't start new ip's next gen lol...i say sony will lose more exclusives as microsoft will. sony realized they have too many which is money wasting, they said it anywhere didn't they? (i read that but no clue in which thread). microsoft opened some new studios and nobody knows if they won't buy someone more. i donÄt see sony purchasing more studios.

Sony purchased Sucker Punch last year. A much bigger developing studio than anything MS has purchased in a long time.

OT: I agree. MS is doing it's best to convince their fans that exclusives don't matter, it's all about multiplatforms. Seems they were semi-successful. Their fans agree with them that exclusives don't matter this gen, but disagree with them when it comes to next-gen.

MS : Here is the (timed) exclusive DLC for Resident Evil 6 that you have to pay for! Enjoy.

Sony : Here is the exclusive DLC for Far Cry 3 that's free! Enjoy.

That's the difference between these two companies. So even if MS pours all it's money on exclusives next-gen, PS4 has nothing to fear. It will get all of them like Bioshock, ME, Lost Planet etc etc. 360 is just a hype machine, nothing else. In long term, the Playstation offers way more.

i said it last week or so and it still counts. the number of own ip's people really care about is almost the same for sony and microsoft. sony has more retail ip's (microsoft more arcade ip's) but if they have games like resistance or not, 90% of people don't care about that. count all killzone, infamous, resistance and whatever sales together and you won't even have one sold game for every playstation. but playstation attach ratio is 8.5 wich means almost all sold games are multi-plats for playstation. people always act as if exclusives were so important but in reality, just very few are important and the rest is only interesting for a very small part of console owners. games which are important for people are as example fifa and pes in europe, cod worldwide, elder scrolls, gta, assassins creed and so on... these games make a much bigger part than some eclusive own ip's

if all exclusives except the few big ones make not even one game for every sold consle, what do you believe how many don't even own one of them (because there are surely some fans who have 10 or more of them).

microsoft doesn't have to make people believe many exclusives aren't so important, because it is the truth except maybe for nintendo who really live from exclusives.

i care about exclusives, yes halo and uncharted, gears and gow, those games are important for me but all these resistance and infamous or viva pinata are games i can play but i dont need them.

we have much more good games we could ever play, even if i wouldn't get only one exclusive i would still have more games i want to play than i ever could.

for every person, there are other things important. for me, the controls are important, i love the xbox 360 controler that's the reason i bought like 80 360 games but only maybe 10 ps3 games. for me, the 360 is more important as the ps is even with a better quality of ps own ip's

if playstation wouldn't have resistance, infamous, heavy rain and whatever and only gt, uncharted, god of war and fe others, sony wouldn't have sold 25 million less ps3s. maybe 5 million less.

if microsoft would have infamous, resistance and few others instead of sony, microsoft wouldn't have sold many more 360s. it's important to have few huge ip's like halo but not to have small ip's not many care about except the huge fans.

You are arguing from MS's standpoint. I am arguing from the gamer's standpoint. You are saying it doesn't make sense for MS to release smaller IP's than Halo because it won't sell consoles. i'm not arguing microsoft stand, i'm arguing for 90% of playstation and xbox owners. you are a staff member? we should get zanewane and turkish as staff member next.

DID YOU EVEN READ WHAT I WROTE? if a playstation owner has on average not even one sony ip in his library, how can these games be important for most then? some have 10 or more sony ip games, what do you think how many don't even have one then because they dont fking care about sony ip's?

they want to play fifa and final fantasy and assassins creed and pes and cod and not resistance or whatever.  sure a game like gt is important for sony but like i said, if it comes to games people really want to play, microsoft and sony have almost the same because only a few games are really important. if people want to play those many sony ip's, why don't they buy them? correct, because they don't want to play them or because they have better alternatives as multi-plat games which cost so many time to play that you don't even have time to play the sony ip's even if you want because they aren't as important for most players as the multi-plat alternatives.

yes resistance is a good game (what i saw of it) but i didn't play it because i didn't ave time to. so, if sony has resistance or not, what exactly does this change for me or 90% of gamers? because if we will never play the game we don't need the game.

it would be totally different if the multi-plat market would be worse but since we have more good game we can ever play we 360 owners can easily live with less microsoft ip's compared to sony ip's.

I don't know where you are pulling this figures of a playstation owner not owning a single Sony IP on an average because according to Vgc they do. Sony has sold more than 100 million games on the PS3. And there are 28 million sellers on PS3 published by Sony. The total of the 28 million sellers goes above 65 million.

omfg read what i wrote (both posts). i said there are some important games like gt but if you count them out and count only games except the number of exclusives microsoft has as well with halo as example you won't have many who own the rest of sony ip's. which means most don't need them. it's pretty simple.

43 million. That's the total no. of games sold by Sony this gen that is not God of war, Uncharted, GT. Excluding the really unpopular games, of course.

Is that really small? I don't think so.

that is not even one game per playstation owner, exactly like i said. and a playstation gamer has 8.5 games on average. so how can these games together be important for most gamers? they aren't, most don't care about them, there will be maybe 10 million playstation owners who really care about these games but 50 million or so won't. (sure the number is out of my ass but t should be very clear how important those games are for the biggest part of gamers)

it's the same for xbox and viva pinata 2 or kameo or whatever. it's good to have the games but most xbox owners don't own one of these games.

=D!!!!!

it's happening again

I MUST.... RESIST... REPLYING...

lol this thread is producing so much GOODNESS for me to reply to but I.. MUST.. RESIST..
