Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony PS3 Are You Impressed Yet?

I remember an article that was posted on here way back in 2008 when Metal Gear Solid IV was released and that put the Playstation 3 in first place worldwide for one week.  The article's title was something like "The Playstation 3 Being in First Place for One Week Doesn't Impress Me".

Now that the Playstation 3 virtually owns the dedicated console market each and every week and it looks like it will definitely pass the 360 in sales at some point and on the other hand it doesn't look like Nintendo's Wii, even though it won this gen, will ever be the first place console for even one more week in this gen, I'm wondering if you're impressed by the run the Playstation 3 has had this gen?

the PS3 is like a cool guy who arrives to late to the party...

I think the Cool Guy who arrives too late to the party analogy is more fitting for Wii U.

Yes and no,

I'ts "dominance" is being blown a bit out of proportion considering the fact that leading for most of the year wasn't enough to put it ahead of the 360 by more than 500k (Or something like that) for that year, and the same thing is likely to happen this year.

Having said that, It's selling well (Obviously) considering the fact that it had a somewhat rocky start due too several factors.

Wii won this gen though,

WiiU is not treated like the cool guy, WiiU is the nerd that nobody cares about, but later on gets a job very well paid...

The Wii won this gen, but certainly not with the flaire that the PS2 won the last gen.  The PS2 continued to sell well for many years into this gen, it was the most played system well into this gen, and it had by far the largest number of the best games in its gen.  The Wii kind of fails hard on the latter two categories.

I don't disagree with you.

Wii won because of the novelty factor and it's cheap price, not because it was a great machine with great support. (IMO).

i dont agree there
imo Wii has the best games, just not the best graphics...

I don't think it's going to be remebered that way by most gamers.
