What did the kinect do that the PS Eye didn't? It just some enhanced tech that allowed for proper tracking in a 3D space. Something that the PSEye can really only simulate (gets the job done decently too). It was just an improvement of the general idea of the PS Eye which was an upgrade of the Eyetoy.
The ball at the end of the Move controller is there for nearly the same reason. Proper tracking in a 3D space where as the WiiMote's data feed had to go through some fancy software hoops to pull off the same effect.
EDIT: I probably didn't explain that very well but the point is clear. Everyone at some point looked at what the other did right and tried to improve on it for the betterment of their own consoles.

i disagree with this, from what i've seen the only ones screaming "copy" are the ones in the nintendo camp

MS fans have accused the WIIU propad of copying the 360 pad
Nintendo fans accuse Sony of copying...everything so it works perfectly.

lol copy. the whole playstation and xbox and whatever are copies. or did they have the console idea first? and a game is only a copy of the first game because both are games.
