I just got up and read this engadget say that MS had the top selling console world wide came here to check if it was something mentioned in their conference and did not see any threads talking about this and the thread on the 360 live feed did not mention it.... so was it talked about there or somewhere else that ms released it, and where are they getting the numbers? are we overtracking the ps3 or undertracking the 360?

yes but in this type of information they cannot lie about something that will/can be construed as finical data, it will get them in all kinds of trouble they have to have numbers to back it up.

maybe as aj_habfan says its shipped for the quarter but clarification would be nice, maybe some official rep for vgc can reach out for clarification

They must be refering to a specific time period. Quite literally it is impossible for 360 to be the top selling console world wide. Nintendo has outshipped them by quite a few million. (im talking total console sales here obviously XD)
