Cool.

BTW. You need to correct your global numbers. The gap between Ps3 and Xbox 360 was 328k

http://www.vgchartz.com/yearly/2011/Global/

Huh, weird I counted up each month for the charts and that's what I came out with. Must be a math error on my part (either that or they have a way to count Jan 1st 2011 which I couldn't count...my numbers are from Jan 2nd-Dec 31st). I'm not going to go through each week to try and fix it (because it would take many hours and still might not be correct) but I will edit the last one that shows totals for the year.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Keep in mind that Vgchartz hasn't adjusted the PS3 down yet. It looks to be near 500k overtracked so if they do adjust it accordingly the gap will be closer to 400k.

How sure are you that it's overtracked? I mean, they've already adjusted the PS3 down this year, right? I'm sure the gap was like 1.8m/1.9m and then they lowered the PS3 to make the gap 2.5m or something... or atleast I'm sure I saw that anyway, lol. Just wondering where you're getting these overtracked figures from, no argument intended here.

Anyway, I strongly believe the PS3 will outsell the 360 again this year, it just has more exclusives hitting that I believe will add an extra burst of vitality to the high sales figures close to Christmas, although I can see the 360 maybe winning November and December as it did last year, mainly due to Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 (If there's a Black Ops 2 bundle and there's no doubt going to be a Halo 4 bundle too), but with the progress the PS3 will have made throughout the year, it hopefully won't impact it enough to put the PS3 into second place.

360 and PS3 were both adjusted up (360 more than PS3 causing the gap increase). Then PS3 shipment numbers came in which indicicate it's been overtrack according to most.

360 numbers have been increased after the Q1 shipment data showed no particular sign of previous overshipment, based on that they've buffed the numbers a bit. Also PS3 got buffed up a bit too, which is strange as nothing out of ordinary really indicated that. Then the Sony shipment numbers and totals came out, showing that there was something like 300k PS3's on shelves?

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Well as of last quarters numbers there were only around 300k PS3's on shelves and its usually significantly higher than that unless the console is not meeting demand (which Sony are).

Also in that thread is a link to Kowens shipment thread I believe.

Ah thanks, that helps clear things up. So we should be expecting the PS3 WW sales to be lowered then, right? It's not looking good for those of us who thought the PS3 would eventually overtake the 360 in WW sales before the next gen, lol.

Yeah the general consensus is that the PS3 is roughly 500k overtracked. Now we might all be wrong and the PS3 actually does have very few consoles on shelves (very unlikely though IMO). But at the very least, I'd say you can expect the PS3 to be 100-200k overtracked.

Weren't PS3 sales recently adjusted recently? I swear the gap between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 suddenly got bigger.

Great idea, and kudos for taking over Seece's thread.

This year will be too close to tell, E3 might make things a bit clearer, but it's going to be a close one. It all boils down to how many units Halo 4 can shift.

The last major adjustment we had was due to Nintendo's and Microsofts quarterly numbers. I believe the 360 was adjusted up around 500k and the PS3 adjusted up 150k.

Yeah I believe this year is going to be very close as well. It's anyones game at this point. I'm guessing that the PS3 will be slightly ahead by the end of the year or it will be a tie.
