Lyrics do matter to me, but I don't like Eminem. Don't really like the rap genre.

But I do GET how someone can not care about lyrics, even though I do.

So your friend is a bit too critical of music.....just like you're too critical of Call of Duty.

Bieber does have a few good songs. His music is mostly made for teenage girls, so its understanable that you aren't a super fan.

1. Well CoD is famous because of how amazing Cod, Cod2 and especially Cod4 were. They kinda blow now, but they did become famous because of greatness. 

2. I don't think Eminem sucks, but he is pretty damn overrated. I only like maybe 5-7 of his songs tops. 

3. Okay he's a bit off on this one. Lyrics do matter, but there are many great songs where the lyrics are just pointless ramblings that sound good. 

4. His lyrics and songs suck complete ass, but yeah he does have a good voice. I'm secure enough in my masculinity to say that. I don't listen to his stuff, but he can sing.

He sounds like one of those guys that goes against stuff just because everybody else feels a certain way. He was "Country before country was cool". As soon as you agree to liking something he likes, he'll probably hate it. Kinda like Disolitude when it came to 3D TV's. When I didn't have one, it was awesome. Now that I do have one, it sucks (--To him. I still think it's awesome!).

What's the difference?

To be honest, Skyrim has been experiencing a lot of criticism like CoD. I can't go to a youtube video featuring rpg games without seeing people lambasting on the non-existent combat.

Taste are subjective, there isn't an inherent sense of superiority or self-satisfaction. You're better off surrounding yourself with people who share the same interests. There are elitists in almost any entertainment medium and it usually boils down to who is willing to go the extra mile to look for hidden gems.
