Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

in military. tired of current policies. Romney seems fine.

I dont understand what people have an issue with Romney. The reason he does not seem to take hard stances is because I think he honestly does not care about that stupid social issues that bog down progress in either direction.

Will Gay people being able to marry advance the US in any way? Will banning abortion advance the US in any way? NO. Those are both personal beliefs that have little effect on the large scale success of our country.

I like that Romney appears to not be married to ANY special interest groups. Special interest are not what determines the ultimate success of the US.

You get my point. Obama seems to only care about every special interest in the whole world but misses the big picture. Romney could care less about special interest (which is why he does not "endear" himself to most) but seems focused on the big picture. I like the fact no one group seems to love Romney.... That means he does not pander to any specific group. I believe is Romney is not a moderate we may never see one get this close to election. (look how hard it was for Romney to get the support of the base)

Romney's opinions on subjects change so quickly you need a chart to figure out where he stands on what issues.  He's been pandering like crazy during the primary, completely back-stepping on every issue and position he made in 2008.

He needed to veer right if he wanted to win the Republican primary. Now that it is over, I can see him swinging closer to the center.

Out of these two, I will have to go with Obama. The reason is simple. I don't see much of a difference between the two, and neither is very appealing, so I'd rather have four more years of Obama, than a potential eight years from Romney. Come 2016, I'd like to see the Republicans run some real candidates, not the bottom of the barrel like we had this year

This is based on the assumption that the Republicans will have somebody better than Romney in 2016.

My bets on 2016 candidates:

GOP (if Romney is not Pres): Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin.... maybe Jim DeMint.

Of those, only Christie would be likely.  Jindal did not do too well on the public stage in 2008, it's doubtful that he'll run in 2016 just like he didn't this year.

Sarah Palin is losing popularity.  Most people see her as a right-wing nut-job, despite the fact those on the far right like her.  The only thing that makes Palin look better is when Bachman speaks.

DeMint might do well on the far right, but there is no way he could get to the center or center-left.

People have to remember that a Republican candidate can't win an election by appealing to the far right of the party.  They have to at least be able to appeal to moderate Republicans and Democrats, as well as Independents.  Moderate Republicans are all but extinct at the national level.  Even Senator Snowe is ending her political career because of it.

The problem is, the Obama campaign will take what he said in the primary and use it against him.  Not only that, but they'll take what he said in 2008, then what he said in 2012, and then take whatever he says during the general election and show how he panders.  Compare, contrast, then add in Romney saying how he's allowed to evolve his opinions over the past four years and suddenly you have the guy looking pretty hillariously bad.  If you don't believe me, watch the Daily Show, because that's what they do pretty regularly.  Show a clip of Romney saying one thing, then show him saying the exact opposite.  Which Romney will voters be voting for?  Is it a toss of the coin based on whatever way the wind blows?

...I can just hear the liberal media now, " his father is a foreigner, jindal can't be a natural born citizen!". Really wish some of the repubs didn't press that with Obama. :/

I doubt that.  If the media didn't harp on the fact that Michelle Bachman just became a Swedish citizen, then I doubt they'll harp on the issue of whether or not Jindal is a citizen or not.

Having said that, I highly doubt Jindal would run.  He didn't do too well on the public stage in 2008, so I'm not sure anyone on either side was that impressed with him.

Jeb Bush, if he ran and Chris Christie would be a strong likelihood.  I doubt any far-right candidates like Ryan, Cantor, or DeMint would win in a general election.
