I was just remembering back before the Wii came out, I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it because the control scheme was so drastically different. I got one, and found out that for the most part the controls work quite well, although in some instances (Mortal Kombat, Madden), the regular old controller works better and is easier. I was just wondering if there were people that didn't buy a Wii because they looked to intimidating and different to get used to.

The ones that didn´t buy it because of the controlls ended up buying it after they played at my house.

Most people I've seen have difficulty at very first with the wiimote, but after using it a few times, they wouldn't want to play games with any other controller! 

I prefer to use the classic controller in any game I can. Some games it works well, but I find that most games the Wii controls are tacked on.

Nah, i enjoy the Wii controls, they've become second nature to me. I do still enjoy some games with a standard controller but overall i think its definately improved on the majority. Plus we have only scratched the surface, the years to come will only bring better controls.

I sold my Wii on Ebay because i didnt like the controls so the answer is yes it could be.

I didn't like the controller at first. It really felt awkward for a while. Now when I play something with a regular gamepad I almost laugh. Going back really does feel like I'm going back to something that is no longer valid.

The exact same thing happened when I went from the Atari joystick to the NES gamepad. It didn't feel right at all for the longest time. Then when I picked up a joystick again it felt almost prehistoric in comparison.

That said, I do think that it's entirely logical to not buy a Wii because of the controller.  You're asking a lot of people to learn something new and that is scary.  It is the same reason that older people don't like computers.  Being scared won't stop change from happening though.
