N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

It looks more like the formula in Battle Stadium D.O.N(the SSB clone with characters from DBZ, Naruto and One Peice)

I'm a little disappointed that there wont be as much of an emphasis on platforming. That was something that I really enjoyed about Smahs Bros that I suppose wont be making its way into PSA:BR. Getting back onto the stage added a nice layer of depth and strategy to the other systems as well.

The AP system sounds okay but I think I will like the % health system better. First off playing as any lighter character it really changed your strategy. At high percentages I wouldn't even go some places for fear of being lobbed off too easily and stopped using attacks with big recovery so I was never just a sitting duck. I feel like the health system also gave you more variety as to ways to KO an opponent as you could use regular attacks, smash attacks, special attacks or the super as opposed to 1 of 3 supers being the only KO moves. In SSB I could knock them just about any which way depending on the situation and my position. This sounds like it's gonna be a run from the guy with meter like you would the player with over powered items.

While I'm in some ways disappointed, I'm going to wait for a demo or beta before I make up my mind either way. I hope the best for the game and am very curious to see if or how well the market embraces it. Though my initial impression is that it may look similar at first glance but most of the differences seem diminish variety and flexibility as opposed to giving the player more to work with.

Adding this to the OP.

You need to add that the themes are more than just background. From what I saw, the background can attack you. Like the hot shot golf balls, or hades ? - And that stages evolve over time. Bringing in new platforms etc.

As you know Brawl has those too.

Thanks Staude, I'll add them to the list of similarities.

Actually I didn't. But nice that it does.

I haven't played it in a long time, and never really got into it, so it wasn't something that i'd remember seeing.

I hope that the games turn out to be pretty different from eachother in the gameplay feel in the end. Like someone said though, they should have had bigger levels and more players. The ps3 technically supports up to 7 players.

I added 3 new videos to the OP:

Jump Super Stars (DS)
Jump Ultimate Stars (DS)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Up (PS2/Wii)

Well paint me blue and call me a whale!

Superbot was heavily inspired by Smash (they even said so, and they had Wiis and Smash games in their offices), so... yeah, its influence is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally big in this game. Obviously, you cant make a clone game and call it a day, they made the modifications they think were better suited for their vision of the game and TA DA PSASBR was born.
