Pay careful attention to these Rules:

1) You are not allowed to do name-calling (thieves, copy-cats, evil) on any company or any fan type in this thread, otherwise you'll be reported. Choose your words carefully and post honestly.

example: If you think somebody is copying, do not say copy-cat. Explain what your gripe is without resorting to name-calling.

2) Let people express their view and displeasure even if you don't agree.

Apparently this OP was too negative, despite all the disclaimers I've already provided, so in aims of being even more objective, here is a table of similarities and differences:

Similarities:

  • The height of the jumps
  • The default number of mid-air jumps (2)
  • Nearly identical ragdoll physics
  • the default attack reach
  • the attack visual effects
  • the level size to character size ratio
  • the pummeling physics
  • the juggling physics
  • the combo dynamics
  • 1P 2P icon similarities
  • the % system
  • the Super attack animations
  • the grab animations

Differences:

  • The special and super points and construct
  • you don't get a kill unless you have a super
  • a different attack-to-defense playstyle due to AP harvesting
  • a 3-button attack system (in contrast to 2)
I hope this will quiet Runa once and for all.

The situation:

We have all been eagerly waiting for the big announcement by Sony, a  brawler much like Nintendo's, something similar and just as fun.

Well boys and girls, it's finally arrived.

What I expected:

What most of us expected was a brawler like smash, but with its own signature (other than the skin), something that makes it its own. Taking a bit from smash, a bit from other fighters, the game would be really a make of its own.

What we got:

Litterally, it's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, with Sony Characters. Almost everything is identical except the theme (see video below). In essence, it's a shameless rip-off (not an insult at Sony).

What I ask is are there other like-minded individuals, Super Smash bros. fans who would love to get their hands on a game like this, but who are just feeling a bad stomach because they feel like Nintendo is getting ripped off?

Thanks for posting your opinions!

Has Sony bought Gameloft?

This won't end well.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=130023&page=1# Official Playstation Vita Thread! Come in and join!!!

The characters of the game are Sony characters and the game is a combat game and Nintendo don't invent the Combat genre so Sony has the rigth to make this game.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I think you should edit "What we expected" to "What I expected"

Those rules are too strict, I can't post my conspiracy theories about how Nintendo invented everything including electricity.

The gameplay has a few fundamental differences from Smash Bros:

"the scoring method has notable differences. Attacking foes fills an AP bar at the bottom of the screen, which grants three levels of a super attack once filled. You can attack an opponent all day, but the only way you'll actually score a point is if you KO them with a super attack. Level one attacks are usually limited, such as Parappa's spin kick. Once you get to level three, however, you're almost guaranteed a couple of points with screen-clearing attacks. Parappa breaks into a rap performance that annihilates nearby opponents, while Sweet Tooth transforms into his robot form for an insane damage boost.

Considering the importance of super attacks, managing your AP becomes the focus. Items like rocket launchers and the Spear of Destiny from God of War will occasionally drop onto the battlefield, and they can be used to reduce the super meter of opponents. AP orbs can be granted by certain moves, such as Parappa's Boxy Boy boombox ability."

Either way, I think it's silly to get caught up in this looking similar to another game series.

It's a win-win for everyone, if it's bad everyone gets to laugh at Sony and point out how superior the original Smash Bros is, if it's a good game, you get two great crossover brawler franchises instead of just one.

"No trolling allowed" lol like ever stopped anyone

OT: I was expecting something more on the lines of MvC or something, color me surprised that they totally went the SSB route

Yeah it's a clone, with twists obviously. I don't necessarily think a "clone game" should always have a stamp of negativity but I can understand why it does. Seems like Sony is simply trying to tackle a genre whose strength only really lies on the Nintendo consoles. I personally enjoyed Cartoon Network Punchtime Explosion XL, but this will probably have online play, which kinda makes it as good a game if so. I think there's a chance for this one, but we'll all just have to wait and see.
