I heard that the PS3 version of Skyrim gives you AIDS but they will fix it in a DLC maybe.

My son played all the way through Skyrim on our PS3 (about 35hrs to complete the main story) and didn't experience any of the major bugginess that I've seen videos of on the interwebs. His friend who also has Skyrim on PS3 and had no problem.

We have a phat PS3, and my son's friend has a slim. So Bethesda have either fixed skyrim or there is some random thing about the bug because it appears to make the game unplayable on some PS3s but it works fine on others.

It has worked fine for me, but I never experienced any major problems even before the patches.

The 1.05 patch made water in Skyrim vertically untouchable. The game will freeze my PS3 the moment my
character feet touches the water it even happened in a cave with a small puddle of water :P I had to delete my game data and re-install the game and all the patches D:

I heard it was fixed, though you should ask owners with 100+ hours if they still get the lag and what not.

I think you meant virtually.

The first patch didn't fix it for me. It started to become very noticeable at about 40-50 hours play time, with needing to restart the game about every 30 minutes at the 80 hour mark. Disabling all auto saves helped a lot, fixed the crashing.
I never waited for the 2nd patch, traded it in for Dark souls instead. Best decision this gen :)

It was fixed with the second patch. You will still get a bit of a stutter in the framerate every once in a while but it's not a big deal. My 200 hour game works great.

I have 4 save files, each over 150 hours. A 2 of them over 200 I think. As far as I can tell it's fixed. I'm one of the many who had to go through a lot of crap like backwards flying dragons and shit, if that helps.
