Forums - Nintendo Discussion - [Very Small Spoilers] - My minireview of Pandora's tower.

I just completed the game. I even got the best ending for it. Because i enjoyed it, here are some of my pro's and cons.

pro:

Gameplay is point and attack:

  • The chain is you main weapon. Chaining the enemies is fun and more so fast. You can chain them together, pull their legs under them and even smack them against a wall or, even better, against another enemy.
  • Climbing and just moving around is excellent. It gives a nice sense of control and agility.
  • Boss fights are on a logaritmic scale of difficulty. They are fun puzzles to be broken or to be fleshed out - wink: you'll see, when you beat one.

Rpg Elements are limited:

  • The game is an clear action rpg, with a big range of creation or crafting options. You can make potions, upgrade weapons or armor and even make presents for Elena. IMO, it didn't need a skill tree/selection, since your main weapon is already decided and well-developed.

Music is awesome:

You're on the clock - the later your supply of beast flesh is, the more tranformed Elena will be (rather awfull when you're in the red):

  • Normally i don't like timetrials but it in this case i found it added to the experience. You gotta move fast. And you do this - or at least i did - out of affection of Elena. No one with beast flesh wants to see her cute face transformed in... ...ewh.

Characters:

  • First off, Aeron, the character you play, is hardly a fleshed out character and a bit ignored in way of facials expression. Elena, in contrast, is a very likeable and detailed character. Even the way she eats the monster flesh, is handled with an attention to detail. And although you can't actively control her, she is the main character. It is your bond and your actions with her, which affects how the game ends.
  • Mavda is your not so typical old woman, with a weird past and some even weirder sales goods. She serves as the information and trade hub.

Choice - This game is a action rpg with a very narrow focus on your relationship with Elena. You have three choices:

  • One: Chat, care or give (presents) with Elena. I personally rather went pennyless then to see her go without a plant, flowers, thee or a nice cloth.
  • Two:  Take care of Aeron and buy yourself lot's of weapons.
  • Three: A combination of both.

Chose what you will, the ending will reflect your choice. There are five of them.

con:

  • The camera position is sometimes off. It's not a problem with boss fights, but sometimes it feels awkward when fighting or viewing the environment. Overal it's a bit unpolished on that field.
  • Texture work falls in the same category. Sometimes strong, mainly good and sometimes bad.
  • The contrast between Elena and Aeron character development is apparent. On Aerons side's, i would have like more believable facial expressions. Note: His - rather japanese - hear is pretty lame. And again in contrast, Elena's is very nice.
  • They do repeat some tower elements in later towers. It's not a bit issue, for the most part it's recombined in a fun way.
  • The range of enemies is a tad limited. A couple more unique to some towers would have been great.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Well from the OP's review I really do not see what all the bad reviews for this game are saying. Plus if Rol seems to like it over The Last Story, that has to be good news.

I wonder if conegamer has played The Last Story yet?

I've played all three. Liked them all, but Xenoblade is the best. I think pretty much everyone (around 90%) would agree with that.

Xenoblade>>>>>TLS>Pandora's Tower, but I haven't beaten PT yet. Could change. All worth buying.
