Awesome, thread keep this going!

It's useful for me to see how we are reaching new people.

What, if anything, do you feel stopped you signing up straight away or signing up then lurking before posting? Just getting used to the site and the community or is there something I could do to make it more accessible to new users?

Kwaad....he was having lengthy arguments about the accuracy of the numbers that would go on and on...This was back in probably January or February of '07.

I would say because the numbers were not interesting enough to me then, like i said only Japan was weekly and at the time I'm not sure any of it was anywhere near as accurate as now.

Well that and I don't really join forums much, this being my second ever, and as it basically replaced the other forum I was on I only seem to se one at once.

Recently I got a message on the VGChartz myspace from someone asking "Would it be possible to list past the top 50 software games on your US weekly charts?"

I politely replied saying that you must sign up in order to see the top 200.

I'm not sure but maybe some people don't know that signing up enables you to see more of the software charts, even though it says so but is it easy to see?

An idea would be perhaps to still have the page links to the other 50-200 games but instead of displaying it once they click, link them to the sign up page informing them that signing up enables them to see more.

I was curious about consoles sales figures, I wasn't satisfied at all by the infos I could find on "big" games sites, so I googled for compare, consoles, sales, PS3, Wii, XBox360, then I tried some of the sites found and VGChartz was the best, with the better and most complete comparison tools and charts.

Do I get a bonus VG$100?

Some 360 fan pointed towards the next-gen wars website while discussing, after doing some research I found it was a very unreliable source at the time and looked for a better public alternative and found this website!

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I found it from the constant bashing on the nexgenwars site. It's odd that their community bashes here so regularly, but they are far more immature than this place is.

I wanted to know how the Wii was doing versus the PS3 and the X360 back in December 06.

When the Wii and PS3 launched i regularly looked at Nexgenwars.com but that site was unreliable bullcrap... So i started googling and i stumbled upon this site... Which was still quite small at the time... (Forum dominated and stimulated by 'Kwaad')... So i lurked up untill Februari 07 and joined. I was the 1674th... Member to join the forums...

Edit: The site has grown a bunch since i first came here! The first few weeks when i was lurking on this site it didn't even have Mods and Ioi (then his name was Wii...something..., dont remeber correctly) was asking people who wanted to become Mods... The first were Benkenobi88, Stof and some other guy(s)... I really dig the mature atmosphere in comparison to some other forums out there! Keep it up Ioi!

THE NETHERLANDS

I found teh place through joystick and engadget, either it was people that were posting there mentioned teh site, or the site itself was mentioned by joystick at some point, that was about maybe a year ago, I didn't visit the site regularly until I started seeing the Wii catching up to the 360 before the year was out.
At this point I was checking more and more regularly, but because of that, I'd occasionally check the forums as well. Of course, I had my own theories about what would happen where, so eventually I made my first LONG post.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

I was trying to Google sales number for video games and ended up hitting the Jackpot with vgchartz.

Lurked for four of five months and ended up joining about a week ago. I'm a Lurker by nature and this is actually the first forum I've become a member of. The community here is just so much better then anywhere else.
