I was reading www.theinquirer.net (British IT news site) and they refered to this site right after the Wii and PS3 launched. I just lurked for about a year until I finally joined.

Google search, I wanted to know how much did the PS3 and Wii sell at launch and i found VGChartz.
I then lurked for a while. Joined on April, then lurked with my account, now I post everyday.

 Kwaad....he was having lengthy arguments about the accuracy of the numbers that would go on and on...This was back in probably January or February of '07.

I really cannot remember, I found it a few weeks after Wii launch, I imagine it was googled or something... I think I was searching for polls on which console people preferred at the time and I found this and NGW.

I followed ngw for a while (this site wasn't anywhere near as nice back then, only monthly american numbers and I can't remember what europe numbers were), anyhow I knew ngw was BS from the start (no one can track consoles like that unles they have them bugged) but I assumed it maybe got updated each week or something. anyhoo it was early February when I started lurking here more often, and finally joined in April about a month after PS3 launch (PAL)
