Forums - Sales Discussion - Predicition: PS3 will outsell Wii by the end of this console generation

once they have all stopped selling the best ps3 could hope for is to be within 10m of the wii. i think the wii will finish at 110m and sony will keep the ps3 going until it scrapes 100m

Around the Network

It is doubtful this will happen because of the gap in sales. Plus the PS3 will slow down markedly in mature markets once the PS4 has been announced. The one advantage the PS3 has though is that people can buy new as a replacement and not lose DLC/DLG (downloaded content/downloaded games). Nintendo's locked system may actually cost them replacement sales (instead, the systems are serviced).

But if it happens because no one is buying the Wii but instead buying the B/C WiiU, does it really matter?
With backward compatibility, Nintendo effectively eliminates the market for its old technology so it only has to focus on one generation of hardware.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

ps3 sales depend on if sony announces a new console this E3. we know wii sales are just gonna drop like a rock because of the wiiu but ps3 still has alot of life in it. its still $250 and theres plently of big games yet to release like GTAV. i dont think it will happent but its not as far fetched as some are making out.

Wii sales dropped because it is saturated in the market.. and nintendo isn't releasing any games for their #1 console..

Wii u probably won't sell that well
