Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Help with our Spirit Camera review!

Hi all,

Dan Share-Strom here, gamrReview's resident 3DS nut, nice guy, and man trapped in a Sprite bottle (send food, please!)

After I got such great response from the last 3DS horror title I reviewed (Resident Evil), I had to sign up to review the new Fatal Frame.  I'll save my thoughts on the game for the final write up, but...

I'm stuck!  I'm on a riddle that I can't seem to figure out, and I'd love any hints from anyone who may have gotten the game and passed this part.  Whoever gets me the answer first gets a shout out in the review!

Here is where I am ( spoilers, natch)

I took a picture of the boy with the mask on page 4 of the book.  He came out and told me that he's going to hide in a hole near another guy's face, and I have to take a picture of that spot.  However, the are only three spots I can find that the game allows you to take pictured of (pages 4 and 10 and the front cover).  None of them are the correct answer.  I have been wracking my brain trying to think of another solution or find a strange angle to take the picture from, to no avail.

Anyone know what I can do here?  Again, whoever helps me gets a hero cookie, their name in the review, and is a super awesome dude.

Thanks! :)

Dan

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

It definitely doesn't work perfectly. I'm really hoping the game hasn't broken on me, because it is pretty interesting so far.

Actually just found it right this minute. I had the rig answer last night, but it wouldn't recognize that picture even when I was playing in the brightest room in my house. Detection issues are definitely going in the review.

I just got this game. It's pretty fun so far after playing it for about a half hour. It's fun to use the camera and the AR, but it sucks so much balls that you can't play it in a dark room. Since my apartment is always dark, I thought I had the perfect setting. I stopped for now; I'm slightly disappointed by that. Oh, well...

I will play it later 'cuz the AR usage is pretty damn interesting, they make it seem like the girl is always following your ass everywhere! I also like the fact that instead of using the circle pad, you use the motion/gyro controls

In general, I found that playing in the dark with the book placed under a lamp worked just fine.  However, as noted in this thread and in the review (which will be posted in the next day or so) there are definitely lighting issues that drag it down sometimes.

@Spurgeonryan: Give it to Alex?  Pft.  Then we'd be tied for number of 3DS reviews! :P  He's at 3, I'm at 4 (before posting Spirit Camera).  Also, I gotta catch up to Mr. Xavier Griffiths, aka Signalstar, who has a whopping 8!  I plan on reducing that gap to 2 next month with my Mario Tennis Open review.

As for the the moral support--hmm... we'll see ;)

Okay, for now, I'll wait for your review before I play it even more; specially after reading from you and ryan's post that there might be a bug(s) in the system. I also wanna read on what other issues you may have found on this game... What I had used was a Strap-on Headlamp pinned on a wall to give light to the book :)

I'll the play Tales of the Abyss for now since I bought that, too.

HA! Lol.

Does anyone on the review crew read or speak Japanese? There are so many good 3DS games coming out in Japan, and we are getting very little when it comes to reviews on these games other than Famitsu.

I'm not sure if anyone speaks Japanese, but it's moot because none of us live there, and the games are unfortunately region-locked.  Would be awesome, though.

Look for the review sometime tomorrow, guys!

Also, next target: Brent Galietti and his five 3DS reviews--I'm comin' for ya, bro! :D
