So, this game has got me craving Fire Emblem again. I dug up my old GBA SP and bought a charger at a local game store. Put in Sacred Stones and I was in the middle of chapter 18 (out of 21) and beat it last night. Great games.

It's true that we only have Shadow Dragon, FE, FE:Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn, Path of Radiance and then Awakening, right?

A yep.  We never got the Mystery of the Emblem remake.  And 2 plus 4-6 haven't been remade.

If anything I'm surprised we never got Sword of Seals (FE6) with Roy, since we got Blazing Sword and all.

Slightly unrelated, but anyone wanna give me a quick synopsis of the FE and FE Sacred Stone's story? I know SS has a brother and sister that get separated at one point. Need SS to defeat the demon possesing Lyon's body. But I'm not sure exactly who Lyon is.....

Lyon is the Prince of Grado. He's Ephraim's and Erikia's friend, but he becomes possessed by the Demon King, and obsessed with ressurrection. So he brings the dead king of Grado back to life, who in turn declares war across the entire continent. So you go on to try and quell the war as Erikia at the beginning of the game, but then you locate your brother Chrom, who then goes on to fight with you. But you know there's two places you should go; Grado to defeat the king and some other country (Jerall or something) to gain allies. I imagine you're just at the point where they've re-grouped, so I won't reveal more plot points

Very good SS telling.

As for Fire Emblem or Blazing Sword.

The game is set on a different continent of Elibe.  The story revolves around that in the distant past humans and dragons worked together.  Eventually humans fought the dragon through greed/fear/power in a great War calling the Scouring.  The Dragons were defeated and what was left of them vanished.

You start the game as a tactican (not an actual unti like in Awakening) and work with Lyn (more Swordmaster than Lord) for ten chapters in a quest to prevent her evil great uncle from ascending the throne.  The next twenty chapter revolve around Eliwood (typical lord) and Hector (a more sturdy Warrior/Berserker), and later Lyn rejoins, fight against the Black Fang.  Controlled by a necromancer, the Black Fang are a group of beasts/undead that kill people for thier quintessence or life energy and plan to use it to open the Dragon Gate (where the dragons hid after the war) to start the conflic anew. I won't reveal more as this is enough to get the jist of the story.

This sets up for the events for Sword of Seals.....

Which we never got. :(

Hmm, an EXP-farming chapter? Could be useful.

I've finally surpassed where i left off last time. Still was a bit tough in chapter 5, as i underestimated the boss' attack range, he came out too soon and nearly spoiled everything. Ricken beat him, though.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, I'm at chapter 19, where they're heading to Rausten before going after Lyon in the Darkling Woods. It seems I merged a lot of the two games together.

And I remember FE a lot better than this one. Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector are all still very fresh in my mind. Wish I could say the same for Path of Radiance.

I got this far in original FE.

A question from a rookie; Do you need Chrom to talk to people during battle in order to recruit them? More specifically, during paralogue 2 Anna survived the battle but she went her merry way after the battle and didn't think to have Chrom approach her during the battle. I hope I didn't lose my chance although it alluded to seeing her again and she had good speed and a steel sword. Also, how many people reset the game if a comrade dies or do you let live and let die.

Most characters are recruited by talking to them with Chrom, yes, although a handful have other requirements. Regarding Anna in particular, you do not recurit her during that battle, so don't sweat it.

And I always reset. Never leave a man behind!

Thanks for the info.  I did think she was a little over powered especially for only being level one.  The classic mode adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay.  I can no longer send a kamikaze like I use to in other srpgs

Here's some info. on the EXP-chapter, from the Japanese version:

Xenologue: Entombed Heaven
The Entombed--noble risen soldiers who are extremely rare in numbers and are said to grant valuable experience to those who fight them. By Anna's request, Chrom goes to exterminate them...
Reward: Enemy Entombed (lots of experience)
Difficulty: 2 star, Price: 300 Yen
A whole bunch of Entombed attempt to make a timely escape towards the south of the map. Like the gold-loving risen soldiers from "Gold and Silver", the Entombed don't bother to attack, only retaliating. But do watch out for the Level 30 Entombed who have Counter...
Enemy data
Battle map: New
Map theme: Young Light (Heroes of Light and Shadow)
Battle theme: Days of Training (Heroes of Light and Shadow)

So this'll probably come out in a couple weeks; it's Elincia next week and then Ephraim with this chapter if we follow the JP launch schedule; which we have been doing so far.

Boo on them. I ship Chrom/Sully.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Booya, like 20+ hours at least and finally got my first 100% level up. You know, a stat increase in every stat.

A perfect level.
