Forums - General Discussion - It snowed in Baghdad, Iraq for first time in almost 100 years.

Everyone in this thread denying global warming scares the crap out of me.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I'm guessing that the snow didn't stay to long.

Global warming is part of a planets cycle b4 it dies.

It gets too hot. We get disease from UV rays. Then Die.

way to look on the bright side

We are not denying global warming were just saying we dont know all the facts yet, and not jumping to a conclusion.

I like your assumption weezy.

There is no dispute in the mainstream scientific community that humans are affecting global climate and that the effect is higher temperature.

The only question is what the amount of warming will be, and how fast it will occur.

The current majority opinion is that the increase will be a small number of degrees but that even a small change in average global climate will have large, possibly severe, and regionally devastating consequences.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I bet the snow they had is really confusing George W. Bush.

And by the way the snow was only a dusting most maybe 2 in. It will all melt tomorrw.

Global warming is right up my ally as I'm taking AP Environmental Science. It is an undeniable fact that the average temperature has been rising over the past century or so. However, the causes of this are unknown. There's some correlation between greenhouse gas emissions and increased temperatures, but it's hardly for sure. As we all know, correlation is not cause. There are plenty of possible natural causes for something like this. The sun's energy output varies and even the smallest fraction of a change could yield large increases in temperature. The temperature has fluctuated throughout earth's history.

Basically, there has been a ridiculous rise in greenhouse gas emissions, and people are scared because of the potential for major problems. Nothing's conclusive up to this point, though.

Likely cause for snowing in Baghdad: El Nino. It affects different areas in different ways and uncharacteristically cold weather is not too uncommon.

cool!  there's AP Environmental Science.  good for our future.  and yeah... it's been too long since i was in high school.

speaking of conclusive, at some point you just need to make a "call" .  at this point, i, being practical, think it's good enough to make a call.

the Wii is an epidemic.
