Forums - General Discussion - Coca Cola vs Apple- Which do you think is more valuable?

So my brother and I just got into an argument discussing which company is more valuable. He argues that Apple is much more valuable since they have more money. He went as far as to show me the definition of value. I personally think value can have three meanings- capital, assets, and world influence. I think that apple has a limited base of a middle to upper class people whereas coca cola basically has every class. A persona will struggle finding an apple laptop in a 3rd world company whereas coca cola cans will be everywhere. I even argued to my brother that coca cola can raise their prices by 5 cents and and no one will care and sales will skyrocket.

I don't even think apple is in the top 5 "real" valuable companies in the world.

What do you guys think is more valuable? Coca cola or apple?

Coca Cola has been around longer but Apple is very, very popular and expensive. (As a company, not necessarily their products, although they can be...)
My question to you is, why did you even bring this conversation up with your brother? XD

Just look it up lol

I really don't care for either. (I don't drink soda and Apple products are too expensive and are outdated too quickly). But I think in the strictest sense of the word Apple is more valuable. You can stick the Apple Brand on a lot more things than Coca-Cola. We might be driving Apple ICars one day.

3% of all beverages drank around the world are Coca Cola. Not including things like DIet Cola and other drinks in the Cola empire. And this is based on a few relatively basic formulas.

Apple, on the other hand, may make about three times as much money. But they have to constantly create new things to keep still, and are much more concentrated.

It;s different kinds of wealth really. Apple has more money, but Coke is by far the superior product compared to anything Apple has ever made. Apple's wealth is therefore much more vulnerable.

Love and tolerate.

Apple is more valuable but less well established. The value of Apple is more likely to drop then that of Coke.

I would think Coca Cola because they are far more likely to maintain success long term.

Apple is breaking sales records but their market share is also shrinking. Which will continue to happen due to the competitive pricing of the competition.

But what else has Apple really been successful at other than the mobile device market (i.e. MP3 players, iPhone and tablets)?

I don't believe their other products have large market shares. At least nothing comparible. So don't expect sucess on everything they put their name on.

Coca-Cola has been ahead of the soda industry for well over 100 years. We've seen numerous technology companies rise and fall and I'm sure it's inevitable that Apple will feel the effect too. Not saying they'll fall off the face of the earth, but I don't believe they'll stay on top forever.

Coca-Cola is known by nearly every human on earth, even those who live outside of civilization. I'd say that's a valuable brand. But Coke is my favorite soft drink and I'm not a fan of Apple products.
