Pretty much this. You could make the argument for a couple other artists for Queen of Pop but those two are fairly definitive. 

I prefer Kylie personally but yeah Madonna is still probably the Queen. Can't really think of any other males that would rival MJ unless pop can encompass early rock'n'roll (ie Elvis)

But she's on a whole different level than he is. She's like the first-lady of pop, not Queen.

But "electing" the King of Rock is much cooler, with lots of fantastic people postulating the throne: Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, among many others. I mean, who's fighting MJ? Justin Bieber?

Michael Jackson... clearly. No one before or after is even close.

Queen is a bit more arguable. Madonna is certainly there, however, Lady Gaga is certainly pushing for a take over.

Well when Lady Gaga sells 300 million albums then that'll be a safe claim. Just another 200+ million to go!
