In some games it works better than others but overall it's really nice.
I just can't use it in Resident Evil: Revelations because I use the gyro control scheme so it looks blurry when I try to aim

5/10. It's gimmicky.

The 3D has been a hit and miss for me. It all depends on my mood, I guess. It can be cool at times but it's not vital to gameplay or game itself. Hell, sometimes I don't even see it; And once in a while, the only other single thing I would have a problem with is the "Netflix" logo when it's loading. It's weird. I don't have any trouble finding the sweet spot for anything but the f*n logo

In addition, 3DS sometimes felt rushed: no second analog, different size screens, and UI could use some more work, imo. I think my bitch is there's no organizational structure on the Home Screen or the eShop. "Start", "Home", "Select" don't have to actually be buttons. It's unnecessary. Android and Apple has founds ways to minimized the number of buttons, so should Nintendo.

Ive found a really good time playing the 3ds with 3D on and using the gyro controls, all the while sitting on a swivel chair. As long as you keep yourself in line with the 3ds, and swivel to move, it works fantastically well, however impractical it may be.

9.5/10

Having the option of playing a game in 3D without glasses in my opinion is a very nice feature even if it's a gimmick.

The quality of the 3D is really dependent on the game. Mario 3D, Mario Kart 7, and Ocarina of time 3D look fantastic in 3rd dimension! While Kid Icarus Uprising for me is the best 3D I've ever seen. It really adds an extra immersive feeling to the game. Of course some games look terrible in 3D, with Tales of the Abyss being the worst I've seen yet.

Of course the 3D effect isn't perfect and can interfere with some of the 3DS's other features.

1. Using the gyroscope with the 3D on isn't intuitive, though with some practice you can master it. I can play RE Revelations like a boss with the 3D on and gyroscope without using a swivel chair!

2. Some people can't see the 3D effect and/or it gives them headaches/ makes them sick.

3. You need to be in the correct viewing position in order to see the 3D effect.

4. It drains the already short battery life of the 3DS even faster.

All in all though, I really enjoy the 3D but I'm also glad there's a option to turn it off.  This way  people can't legitimately complain about it since you aren't forced to play with it on.

I'm an advocate for motion controls, Nintendo, and Kicking freaking Toad to the Moon!

I think its really cool, but it really should be on a larger screen to allow for more flexibility for its 3d range. Though it would be cost prohibitive to have a larger screen on it, they would have maybe needed different internal hardware along with a means to handle the added power consumption. A device that could have really utilized this concept would probably have been $350 or so. I expect future handhelds to utilize 3D to a much more impressive level. Maybe Nintendo will release a XL 3DS, larger screen, bigger battery/more energy efficient.

Right now its still there for you to use and its unique, but you can always play without it.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Zelda Ocarina
Star Fox
Resident Evil revelations
Resident Evil Mercenaries
Super Mario 3d Land

I just hate the "ghost effect." I see it often in Mario 3D land and Zelda Ocarina.

You can customize the Home Screen and organize it to your liking. I have it set to display 60 applications on screen and sorted my download games by system and alphabetically, because that's the way I like it.

The eShop is definitely messy though. I guess it's supposed to have a surprise effect; you never know how it will look like when you enter it.

Ha, I have mine organized like that, too... except I don't have it to show 60 at a time. It seems too ..crowded for me. I wish we can group them by system in folders, though. That would be nice. Also, is it me or is the number of icon space doubles, or expands when you're close to filling it? I swear it did.

I never thought of eShop being messy on purpose like that for a surprise effect. I guess it kind of makes sense so games from smaller developers have enough chances on showing up on the main screen just as much as the crowd favorites, which in this is Nintendo's. Hahah

I have to give it a 1.

It doesn't do anything for me. I can barely recognize any depth, all I see is different layers. Things that pop out of the screen are absolutely terrible. The only reason why I give it even a 1 is because it can be turned off and is never necessary.

Also, my score is on a scale of 100.

I can't tell how much of this is sarcasm. I would rate it a 9 because the pros far outweigh the cons, even though it will always be used better in some software than in others.

Cons: 1. Small viewing angle so typically, only the person actually playing can enjoy the 3D and not those watching him play.

           2. Cross talk - blurred images that accompany the 3D effect

Pros: 1. The strength can be adjusted so you aren't limited to only an OFF and ON state. The closer the screen is to your eyes, the lower the strength needed to enjoy the 3D.

          2. Even in games like RE: Revelations where the 3D effect does practically nothing (on the same level as my TV's 2D to 3D feature in which it tries to convert regular images to 3D), the 3D makes the images appear 'sharper'. I noticed that they just don't look as clear without the 3D so even if I don't want the 3D effect, using about 10% of it's strength will sharpen up the images. Download the demo of Dead or Alive Dimensions or Metal Gear and test out my theory.

        3. The 3D pictures and videos the camera can take are actually nice if you learn how to focus the camera before taking your pictures and there's an optional visual aid to help you do so.

        4.  In the AAA first party games, the 3D is usually very impressive and you actually feel like you're not playing the game at its best whenever you have to play without 3D.

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

Its awesome and feels very natural for me to see everything in 3D. It actually gives me a reason to bust out the 3DS from time to time besides my console to just experience a game in a different dimension. That said there are a few problems, the 3D mode does not work at ALL with the built in gyroscope. Moving the 3DS around makes you completely lose the sweet spot, so you pretty much have to turn the 3D off to use any motion features, which is a real shame.

Overall I would rate is a very solid 9/10. Just a few quirks that need to adjusted and you have 3D that works very very well.

It all depends on the games. It's best in Kid Icarus: Uprising. I currently have 9 3DS games including MK7 and 3DLand, but Uprising is by far the best.
