Forums - Nintendo - 3rd Party Franchises on WiiU

Nintendo will have an uphill battle with WiiU, especially when it comes to getting 3rd party support.  Here's a list of franchises I'd like to see come to the new system.

Monster Hunter — It's Japan's current megahit.  The 3DS version sold like hotcakes and boosted the handheld's popularity in Japan.  We should see it on here too.

Final Fantasy — Nintendo hasn't had a mainline FF in years, and hopefully if the system specs are up to par, SquareEnix won't deny Nintendo a traditional effort... provided it doesn't fail like FFXIV.  It IS likely; after all they GOT Dragon Quest.

Kingdom Hearts — The 3DS game is a success.  We should definitely get this.

Resident Evil — Why not?  If the WiiU can handle PS3 and XBOX 360, why shouldn't we get RE 6?  Judging on the favorable reception of Revelations, I'd say yes.

Metal Gear Solid — This is a maybe.  Neither Twin Snakes nor the recent 3DS remake of Snake Eater were huge on the 3DS.  That said, Kojima IS interested, so... we'll see.

Tales — Namco has basically made a Tales for each console, so I don't see why they won't make this.

MegaMan — I'd love to see it, but I doubt it.

CastleVania — Absolutely.  We definitely could use one.  Koji Igarashi will have a difficult time justifying putting a CASTLEVANIA adventure on WiiU.

Contra — Why not?

That's all I can think of for now.

i wouldnt say its an up hill battle as we know of plenty of 3rd parties wanting to Support the Wii U and have great things to say. its more of people wanting to buy these 3rd party games on the WIi U

Unless of course the next XBox or PS4 decides to snatch them away... that is, if either system proves to be more powerful than WiiU, which it may or may not really be, considering that both Microsoft and Sony aren't in great shape. Here's another title I'd like to see on WiiU: Silent Hill. "Shattered Memories" was extremely good, and it didn't do too badly on the Wii either (granted the PS2 version outsold it, but still it did pretty good all things considered).

I can't see the Wii U getting a ton of third-party exclusives. However, I'm really impressed by the multiplatform titles. Assassin's Creed III? Darksiders II? Metro: Last Light? Rainbow 6?! I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Here's some more third-party games I'd totally buy for Wii U:
Final Fantasy Versus XIII - Make it happen.
Okami HD and/or Okami 3 - I would become a Capcom fan again.
Metal Gear Solid 5 - I bet it would make great use of the controller.
Monster Hunter U - This franchise deserves more graphics power and better online.
Crysis 3 - Actually, this is completely possible. Crytek is already developing Homefront 2 for Wii U.
Psychonauts 2 - Because Psychonauts should be on a console where platformers are popular.
Half-Life 3 - I can dream, right?

I cant see a Final Fantasy game from the mainline of the series being produced for the Wii-U because more than likely development will start on for a PS4/Xbox720 version.

I can however see a FF Crystal Chronicles and a potential new title to the series which hopefully wont fail as bad as Crystal Bearers did in the future.

As for Kingdom Hearts, unless they plan to make one for the PS3/Xbox360, I cant see it being released for the Wii-U as well.

I don't know why either title wouldn't hit WiiU; even with the supposed "development" starting on a PS4/XBox 720 version, it's not going to be that much more powerful than the WiiU anyway, so they'll have to consider.  Plus they did express interest in bringing FF to WiiU.  Then there was the rumor that FFXV was going to be for WiiU, so... I have no reason to believe they won't do a WiiU version.

Kingdom Hearts I already can see coming to WiiU.

You never know ;p , the specs arent out yet, it is possible but you never know, hopefully they announce it at E3 2012 or 2013 or even TGS 2012.

Final Fantasy's always been with them since GCN, Crystal Chronicles is a 100% gurantee that is for sure but I dont see FFXV coming out for the Wii-U though I would love to be surprised if it does since Wii-U is a system that I plan to buy before a PS4/xbox720.

I'm sure we WILL see one for WiiU.  It will be difficult to imagine Square-Enix denying Nintendo another mainline FF, especially since they're basically making their console in cooperation WITH third party companies.

Means pointing in agreement.

I want to see Bioware, Bethesda and CD Project on the Wii U wagon.
