Where's my 4GB ram?.... Screw this.  Pun not intended..

A console doesn't need so much RAM. It would be preferred of course, but 2gigs should be enough to provide flexibility for anotehr 6-7 years.

they should just get HP laptops strip the screen SW and other unnecessary stuff and sell them as consoles atleast that way we could upgrade them

not surprised 1gb of video ram is ok but at this points in time PC will surpass this next year if they havent now and was expecting 2gb of total RAM so the CPU could have the other GB

for those wondering how much more powerful it'll be heres a comparison

PS3 256mb of vid ram and another 256mb for teh cpu open gl but comparable to directx 9
PS4 most likely 1GB for each will do directx 11 games should look like current PC games like BF3 on pretty high settings with less jaggies than its console counterpart, both frostbite 2 and cry engine 3 will show us what they have on consoles next gen

so.. im guessing this is not much more powerful then the PS3?..

It's much MUCH more poweful.

The CPU power is debatable. I guess its up to the developer.

Unfortunately I believe this, but to abandon the much superior power line for those AMD CPUs makes me face palm. The only thing that can save the specs is if the embedded GPU can be utilized physics.... which it can't.

I guess Nvidia is happy ditching consoles for tablets?

Anyway all 3 consoles will be using AMD GPUs and CPUs so developers will gain much more experience developing for those cards. Nvidia dropped the ball.

BTW, the Xbox 360 got by fine with its CPU. I'm sure the PS4 will be fine.

It may be theoretically weaker, but most games rely on the gpu; in this case the rsx/cell combo with 512mb split get smashed on by this rumored specs.

Odd when a buddy of mine upgraded his pc he went with the same CPU a8-3850 but black edition. While its a good app for better then basic graphics (ran wow almost maxed at 45fps) not bad. However, he then grabbed 6780(if I remember) we could not get the APU and gpu to crossfire. Can someone with better knowledge about this apu comment? If I am correct this can only crossfire with low end 6series. Also amd is working on an updated apu that works with 7series gpu.

It is, much more. It isn't for those who wanted 20gb of RAM on a gaming console. 2gb RAM total seems about right. The article gives examples like Crysis running on high at full 1080p on this hardware. Thats big compared to current consoles running games at sub 720p. What seems to remain constant is framerate (30fps). But then again, the article says the integrated GPU will give it an advantage, also over the next XBox.

The hardware described is what will be aimed for. The actual processors will be "modified" for a dedicated gaming console. When they say a 7670 will be in the PS4, they don't mean that actual card will be in it, instead it will be a gpu derived from it.

Damn I only bought the PS3 in Nov 2011 and the PS4 will be coming out in 2013 ;x

I'm gonna either have to get a really good job that pays alot to afford this and the games or wait it out (which I will more than likely) until 2-3 years after the release.

That is assuming you need/want it at launch. Who wants a Sony console with no games?

Gotcha thank you sir. O if anyone is interested here is a good site to compare non modified video cards to each other. Again as solid stark just wrote they will be slightly different
