hopefully it is, I got mine last week and though I absolutely love my 3DS, the PS Vita is probably the best handheld to date! everything just seems so fluid; the touchscreen is fast and very responsive, the Near app is cool! allows you to basically get dlc for from from other people, the touch keypad is nice & also come with that "word remembrance" feature. the whole PS Vita design is nice, it seems like the system has so much potential.9and hopefully it does)

What Sony needs to do and hopefully makes it successful is:
#1: System Selling games; hopefully with events like E3, Gamescom, and TGS around the corner we'll have some stellar announcements.

#2: Sony should include more games that have that cross-platform feature, I would love to play some of my PS3/PSN games on my Vita(which currently none of my games have the cross-platform support)

#3: Advertise!!! SONY!!! get your balls out of your man-purse and spend!!!! word of mouth will only go so far(specially if it's mostly bad press out there)

#4: if all else fails: PRICE CUT!!!

I's hard to say, what the companies creating these devices there planning for them.

I think that this depends entirely on how you define success ...

Based on likely actions by Sony, I would say the realistic lifetime sales of the PS-Vita would be somewhere between 20 Million and 60 Million units. While the PS-Vita could do better, I believe it would require Sony to do things they realistically can not afford to do. At the upper end of this range most people would accept it as being successful, and at the lower end of this range most people would call it a failure.
