Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony closed Zipper Interactive; but we want SOCOM 1 and 2 remakes

Sony closed Zipper Interactive, which sucks, but is understandable considering that their games havent done that great....although I actually like MAG, SOCOM 4 and cant stop playing UNIT 13. But why isnt Sony having someone remake SOCOM 1 and 2? I have a couple freinds that would seriously consider purchasing a PS3 (they only own XBOX360s at the moment) just to play SOCOM 1 and 2 in HD. We have some great memories playing those games. This seems like a missed opportuniy especially given the nostalgia factor lately (New Super Mario on Wii, for example) and the fact that several other PS2 series have been remade for the PS3. Actually, I would prefer that SOCOM 1 and 2 get completely remade into a new retail game, rather than an HD remake like God of War 1 and 2, Sly Cooper, etc. And it wouldnt even need the SP, just the MP would be fine.

SOCOM 1 and 2 should not die with the PS2...it seems like a major missed oppportunity to not bring them to the PS3. Maybe they have a developer working on an updated version of SOCOM 1 and 2 for the launch of the PS4...that would be pretty cool. But I thnk it would be better suited to go along with a $199 PS3 (bundle)...which I assume will be coming out this fall.

No, we don't want remakes of any of these games, they were never good to begin with.

Well...it has been a while since I played them, but I definitely had fun when I did play them. Especially with a couple buddies passing the controller around during mulitplayer sessions.

remakes are not done by the original studios anyway, they are done by bluepoint.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Whose we? The original SOCOMs were beloved by millions.

Now about the news of Zipper closing, it is sad; but I knew it was bound to happen since they  decided to stop making unique games and went after the COD base, which was Zippers downfall in my opinion.

This.

SOCOM 1 & 2 were great games, but remaking them won't do anything to increase sales. Both games are noted for their one-shot kills and not their graphics. Time to move on.

Excuse me but have you even played them? Socom 1 and 2 are regarded as one of the best multiplayer games last gen. Socom 2 probably in my Top 5 multiplayer games. You shouldn't talk about games you didn't play or only have seen the bad sequels on PS3.

Very unlikely since they're pure multiplayer games.

Doesn't quite seem like games that would benefit much of being remaked in HD.

In my opinion.
