At first I thought I was going to get a bunch of eye candy like we got in Cars 2, but a terrible movie. But instead they surprised me and it turned out to be good.

I would give it an 8/10 as well.

Saw Hacksaw Ridge 9/10

Such a different type of war movie, ending was rushed, but still good.

Looks interesting.

I'm almost through the Untold history of the US. Not really something to watch with kids in the room, very graphic at times. Just Obama to go. It's interesting and sad to see history repeating itself so clearly. It does a great job at exposing propaganda and movies with simple facts and statements from the key players themselves, as well as clearly linking events, cause effect, together. Every time it boils down to people with great intentions, either being misled or getting their ego or pride in the way of making real progress. Very interesting to see their ideas change during their presidency.
Clinton would have been a bad choice, she was clearly behind the misleading information charge upto the Iraq war, and still goes on about the Russian threat. Yet Trump draws parallels with Reagan and Bush. Bush also clearly stated he didn't want to get involved with world politics, before you know what. Actually one of the reasons why 9/11 happened as he simply ignored all the warnings. Fucked either way.

Who I would really like a movie about is Vasili Arkhipov. The Russian nuclear submarine commander who single handedly prevented WW3 during the Cuban missile crisis. Cut off from communications, depth bombed by American navy, they were about to launch their missiles in a last ditch effort. A bit like Crimson tide. I love submarine movies and it's been way too long in between them. Plus Thirteen days only tells half while bending the facts. Can't really blame Hollywood for that, facts don't sell.

To me the greatest thing about the US is that documentarie like this can and are made. Freedom of information act is a beautiful thing. Now if only people would learn from history...

Kubo and the two strings: 8.5/10.

Amazingly well made, don't forget the watch the documentary in the extras, 10/10 material. Laika is my favorite studio after Ghibli, with Coraline, Paranorman, Boxtrolls and now Kubo, they keep improving on the art and scale. I hope they can hit the same story impact as Spirited away or Mononoke some time. Kubo proves they can already match the detail and scale. The story lacks a bit behind the visuals in its predictability and familiarity, even though the setting is very well chosen.

Even with all the rigging, the fight against the 18ft skeleton took on average an hour per frame to shoot.
I'm going to watch it again tomorrow. Stop motion has the extra level of detail that cgi alone simply can not achieve. This is one of those movies that could get me into 4K to really see all the textures. It was shot in 3D though, probably not with 4K cameras. No info on imdb available, yet with the heavy mix with CGI I'm pretty certain it will have been mastered in 2K.

I watched Kubo again today, and the start a third time with the director's commentary. It's a 9/10 for me now.

DUDE I love Michelle Yeoh but I just couldn't get into this movie.

How are you watching it, the Tai Seng release (special edition) or those Wu tang dvd's ???I need to ckeck out Wing Chun. Once of the few MY movies I have yet to see.

I like your recommendations BTW. Definitely checking out Creepy and Tunnel.
