Forums - Gaming Discussion - Too many unfinished games. Will not buy a new one until I complete them.

Why force yourself to finish a game you don't even enjoy? Unless you care very much about trophy % completion like some people out there. Myself I love trophies but if I dislike a game I won't force myself to play it only to earn trophies.

Just trade them away for new games...

Well I agree about not forcing yourself to play them, I refuse to get rid of games to anyone.  I don't sell them, I don't trade them, I don't give them away.  why?  a LONG time ago I traded 4 games of mine to a friend...and have regretted it ever since.  What were those 4 games?  Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, The Addam's Family, and...I don't remember the fourth one, but goddamn I was pissed when, a few years later, I REALLY wanted to play Ninja Turtles and Battletoads.

Also, my mother sold my copy of Donkey Kong Country 3 to someone without my permission, I did everything short of breaking into the person's house to steal it back (I offered to refund their money, double their money back, do their chores for a week, etc...they wouldn't give it back to me.  I've been pissed about it ever since becuase DKC3 is one of my favorite games and finding an SNES version of the game is HARD).

So yeah, I don't sell, trade, or otherwise get rid of my games.  There are lots of games on my shelf I have no intention of ever playing, though.  Shit I got for 3-5 bucks I picked up basically becuase they were cheap and made my collection larger.  Lots of games I played and didn't like.  my list of "Games I want to play" is considerably tinier than the list of incomplete games.  In fact, my list of 'incomplete' games is about 20 more than the list I showed, becuase I didn't add the games that I played through most of the way and decided I Was never touching again, like Battlefield Bad Company.

PS3
3D Dot Heroes - lack of motivation, pretty fun game.
Demon's Sould - boring
God of War Collection - GoW - Completed 1/4 of the game, don't like it. GoW 2 - Complete 2/3 of the game, like it.
GT5 Prologue - Last 3 Platinum medals were too hard, but you could count it as completed.
GT5 - So disappointed by the graphics that I only played it for 2 hours.
Haze - no comment
Heavenly Sword - Played for one hour, was good but not great.
Heavy Rain - Thrilled to finish it. Probably in the final chapters.
InFamous 2 - Will certainly finish it one day
LittleBigPlanet 2 - Only played the first chapter.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift - Barely touched.
Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty - Untouched. Wanted to finish A Crack in Time first
Ratchet & Clank A Crack in Time - Good game, but I'm only at the very beginning.
Yakuza 3 - Too overwhelming, okayish game.

Completed: God of War 3, BF Bad Company, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, InFamous, Killzone 2, Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4, Resistance, Resistance 2, Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction, LittleBigPlanet

360 list will follow but I need a lot more time for that. PC list would be impossible to do.

So, I went with the theory that if I suffer to finish a game, I better get rid of it.
I traded: Binary Domain, Uncharted 1 & 2 and Oblivion.

In return, I got, Red Dead Redempion Game of the Year and The Saboteur. I did not have to pay anything, so, I feel less guilty.

Proud owner and supporter of the YAKUZA games!

Here is my list:

PS3
1. Red Dead Redemption (played for 30 minutes over a year ago)
2. Dead Space Extraction (comes with DS2 on PS3)
3. Dark Souls (Nearly done, just finished Lost Izalish, got the nito, seath, 4 kings, and bed of chaos souls, placed them in lord vessel, opened door, just need to enter it and finish that last level)
4. Mass Effect 3
5. Tomb Raider Underworld (got this for free via PSN+ - also got Far Cry 2 for free but after about an hour of playing that game I ended up deleting it, I didn't like it that much)

PSN
5. Rochard (I got kinda tired of this game, it didn't grab me as much as I thought it would, and plodding through the game has felt like a chore)
6. Closure
7. Dead Nation
8. Scott Pilgrim
9. Infamous: Festival of Blood
10. Costume Quest (got this for free)
11. Sonic 4: Ep 1

I know I will be adding Shank 2 to that list when I get that for free next month. I was about to buy Twisted Metal but hesitated due to my back log, might pick it up at the end of the year or something when its cheaper.

I loved The Saboteur. It's a really great sandbox game with an awesome atmosphere, although getting 100% in the game can be quite annoying and repetitive.

I am always surprised to see that a lot of people are buying 30+ games per year. That's insane and of course you won't finish half of them, except if you are jobless.
