Wow. I think you may have a case of Compulsive Hoarding and maybe you DO need an intervention :D. All jokes aside you are beyond the point where you can play all the games that you are buying and you open them making them loose a big part of the resale value so is not a collection either. 

Here are some tips that may help you:

Don't enter into a gamestop if you don't have a specific game to buy

Make list of the games you want to buy in the next 2 or 3 months and STICK to it

Try using a tool to keep track of your pending games, like www.backloggery.com

Find 1 or 2 friends that are willing to help you with peer pressure to finish some of your pending games

Try to control yourself and always visualize that you are buying the games to PLAY them and you already have enough for that!!!

I've been getting better with not buying too many games ahead. Buying a game for $60 and not getting around to playing it when it's down to $30 or less is pretty wasteful.

Well not as bas as I thought, mostly because I am ignoring many steam games

That's a lot of games you have not finished.

Games are played for the experience. You should be having fun the entire experience. If I'm playing a game and it stops being fun to play I simply stop. I have no qualms of leaving it unfinished it if I'd have to trudge through the rest of the game. I only made it halfway through half of my rpgs I own. I got tales of the Abyss for 3ds and after 20 hours I'm getting tired of the gameplay and the story and am about to quit.

I've quit games a level or two before the final boss which is what happened when I played Fire Emblem and Trauma center. There are some games I'm able to play through for hours in one sitting since the entire time I was having fun like Chrono Trigger, FF 7 & 9, Uncharted, Red dead redemption, and the entire Resident evil series.

If games aren't able to hold your interest to the end don't blame the yourself it's a problem with the game. No need to punish yourself by forcing yourself through it.

I have the same problem, I probably only finish 25% of the games I start playing. It's not because I don't like them but I start playing another game. I should do the same thing you are trying to do but I really want to get Tales of Graces.... may be after I buy that.

Same here, so I decided I wouldn't play Mass Effect 3 and Bioshock 3 until 2013. Yes, sad story. The games I have to finish are:

- Spellforce + expansions. About to finish the main quest. Then, expansions...
- Spellforce 2 + expansion.
- Neverwinter Nights + expansions. I'm level 10.
- Neverwinter Nights 2 + expansions.
- Dead Space 2. About to finish it.
- Overlord. About to finish it.
- Half Life the old one. So I can finally start HL2...

Of my huge list I already finished Resident Evil 5, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, Supreme Commander 2, Zeus: Poseidon expansion, Mass Effect 2, Universe At War: Earth Assault, Magicka, Rise of the Argonauts, Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties campaign (tho this one was almost a year ago) and others maybe.

There's also games that I decided I won't finish at least for the time being, for example Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 + expansion, The Lord of the Rings - The Battle for Middle-Earth 1 & 2, Killzone 2 & 3, Dead Rising 2, etc. The problem with this is that I've been playing a lot of League of Legends........

The games I want to play after those are Dragon Age 1 & 2 + expansions, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 + expansions, Lara Croft, Penumbra and Amnesia maybe, FFXIII-2, Fear 3, Xenoblade Chronicles, Overlord 2 and HL2 + exps.

Too much interest in games and too little time for gaming when I got a lot to do in real life. So I had to prioritize. And who the frog cares about this lolol.
