Why did you post this dude? September 2011.......

This is a pathetic attempt on your part to do "damage control". No one expects the Wii U to be noticeably more powerful than a PS3 or Xbox 360. Those of you expecting that, you should savor this "rumor".

Depends on what you mean by "noticeably." One has to remember just how easy it would be to outpace PS360 given that their RAM bottleneck is fairly noticeable, and it would be foolish for Nintendo to utilize anything under 1 GB of RAM. Plus we know we're operating off of a circa-2010 CPU (which will then be optimized), so that Wii U won't be bleeding edge, but should have computing capabilities a fair few punches ahead of what we've expected from PS360.

What i get for quoting before i finish the thread...

idk why anyone thought it wasnt

i believe its final RAM should be between 1-1.5GB where as the PS360 are bot at half a gig, i also believe the next PSbox will be at around 2GB unless the next PSbox release much further in the future than what most are assuming now

idk bout all this resolution and FPS but i think we will see games on wiiu run at 30fps @ 1080p and 60fps @ 720p with no issues, it will definitely have the best graphics console wise but idk know if many hardcore gamers will flock to it for the 1st year or two b/c its graphics are superior than PS360 for the games being released on those 3 platforms.

The orientation is more defensive than offensive, similar to the 3DS. The goal of the 3DS wasn't necessarily to get PSP owners to buy it, but to prevent people from feeling the need to buy a Vita if they bought a 3DS. The hole in the strategy is if you do that, but also neglect the audience that made the DS such a success, you're not going to get anywhere.

With the Wii U, i think it is clear that Nintendo is trying to sell primarily to mixed households (families or young couples or what have you), where perhaps only one individual would be interested in a PS3/360 but the others like Wii-type games. The goal is to get the Wii U in the door on Wii-type games, and then to prevent the household from buying PS4/X3 because why bother if Wii U has all the multiplats?

Of course, it all hinges on Nintendo's willingness to make Wii-type software. In the short term, it looks like they learned their lesson with 3DS, but we shall see.

I'm pretty sure Sony fans didn't care that the N64 was much more powerful than the PS1, and that the GameCube and Xbox were more powerful than the PS2.

Actually, I know a lot of people who, at the time (they were pretty young), picked the PS1/2 because they were informed that it was the most powerful console on the market. Shows what a hype machine in overdrive can do...

Good to hear. One thing about a powerful Nintendo console is that it gets all the third party support that other consoles get, will effectively make PS3 and Xbox 360 obsolete consoles since Nintendo will have a its games plus superior versions of all the top games coming for other consoles.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

The fact that people honestly think that the Wii U will be no more powerful than six to seven-year-old hardware after so many cases of otherwise being stated or shown is truly, in a sad way, funny.

Waiting for E3? What's that?!

That being said, it's indeed quite silly to bring up a September 2011 article.

Pretty much. Nintendo has 1P's games on lockdown. Now with extra 3rd party support. What is there to complain about?  PC and Wii-U is all you need next gen. I do not care about blue ray, HBO, DVR, kinect, dvd player and all that extra shitty stuff. Give us games thats what we buy video game consoles for.
