sony and microsoft fans are said to generally show more interest in specs, power, graphics etc and are ( or were ) looked down on by some nintendo fans for that... wouldn't you agree?

I'm pretty sure Sony fans didn't care that the N64 was much more powerful than the PS1, and that the GameCube and Xbox were more powerful than the PS2. According to your logic, didn't they suddenly care about power when the PS3 was relatively powerful? Didn't they look down on the Wii?

imo there wasn't as large a disparity ( from what i experienced ) between the ps1 and n64 or the ps2 and the gamecube as there has been between the wii and ps3 in terms of visuals...

but i do agree with this point "Didn't they look down on the Wii"

but regardless, i've generally only seen nintendo fans insult others by calling them stuff like "graphics whores" and push the argument that power, graphics etc don''t matter and i'm just making the point that for me its ironic what i'm seeing now

Brilliant, glad it's going for power. This should further convince MicroSony to up their arsenal for next gen. So if playing on the Wii U compared to PS360 is like Blu-ray to DVD, then will playing on the Wii U compared to PS4/720 be like Blu-ray to... HVD?

yeah like andrespetmonkey said, better wii u graphics would mean better xbox and ps4 graphics as well because i think they will try to be better than nintendo in graphics. for example if the wii u would have the graphics microsoft was planning for next xbox, microsoft will then make a better console than they were planning. or at least they will  have same graphics but never worse than nintendo's.

this has to be great news for everyone (if true) as long as consoles won't cost 1000 bucks or so lol.

My bet would go with: If a game uses 1080p 60fps on screen, and also utilises the controller screen to full effect (ie displaying a separate part of the game world to the TV) then visually it probably won't exceed PS360 games in other technical aspects (model complexity, textures, lighting, particle effects and whatnot)

Of course how good games look is still going to rest on developers, and it was rare any of them made an effort with the Wii, so I guess we will have to wait to see what they bother with for Wii U.

You don’t build a powerful console and downgrade it, that’s just stupid! You have something and then add too it and make it more powerful hence the “on par with 360” romurs that came from devs with early devkits


Does it make sense to you that it was much powerful and then all of a sudden it is now on par with PS360?



In fact, they would actually do that in order to lower the price of the WiiU at launch.   It is obvious they are downgrading it in order to have a better price, because of what happened with the 3DS at launch.

It happened the same thing with the PS3.   It was supposed to have 2 HDMI out to connect to 2 different TVs.   The PS3 offered way more things, but it would have costed about $900 lol.  So they downgrade it in order to lower the price to $600.

Nintendo doesnt want to repeat the same mistake they did with the 3DS.

8th gen will be like the 6th gen where PS2 was the weakest but not as weak as Wii was to PS360 so WiiU will most likely be the PS2 of the 8th gen as far as graphical differences go
